War is hell. Truck advertising war may be even worse.

Today we called out Chevrolet’s dubious criticisms of Ford’s aluminum trucks in a new ad campaign. Something about bears, and Howie Long.

But reader HammerheadFistpunch pointed out the frivolity of the entire situation:

Truck marketing is war, GM knows that Ford is sticking its neck out with Aluminum and they are all to happy to strike. Also, like war, truck marketing is mostly pointless, ugly and fought with dubious facts.

And here, nobody wins — except automakers’ finance departments.
