China's Google Is Working On A Self-Driving Car

Baidu, the Chinese equivalent of Google, has confirmed that it's working on an autonomous vehicle, although it's stuck in the lab and might make it onto road this year. Maybe.

Baidu confirmed its plans to TechInAsia, saying that the program is still "at a very early stage" and is based out of its "deep learning" labs – similar to Google X, the skunkworks division that gave birth to its own self-driving vehicle, along with internet enabled balloons, space elevators, and Google Glass.

The company has tasked both its R&D labs in China and Silicon Valley to work on the project, which supposedly boasts similar technology to what we've seen from Google. Naturally, Baidu isn't providing specifics on the program, but they're also rumored to be working on a self-driving bicycle. Seriously.
