Working with the GM Design Team on some "interesting twists," the builds of the hopped-up Camaros have been chronicled in these new teaser videos. We're not sure if the SEMA cars will be anything like Bumblebee's new look or the red work in progress we've seen before, but at least they won't be the standard Camaro that we've all seen plenty of already. Video after the jump.

<![CDATA[ 900 HP Super Cuda, Super Challenger By Mr. Norm To Debut At SEMA ]]> We anticipate the Dodge Challenger will have a substantial showing at this years SEMA show, and if these two entries from Mr. Norm are any indication, its going to be a big horsepower show. The "Super Challenger" and "Super Cuda" are a pair of heavily modified Challengers sporting 900 HP from Kenne Bell supercharged V8s in addition to their snappy styling and big wheels. Considering the heft of the Challenger is one of its biggest problems, 900 HP seems a good starting point for upgrades. The production program for both won't start with 900 horses. Instead, they'll start at a base model, complemented by several stages with upscale performance and accessories. In addition, each of the parts and add-ons featured on the Mr. Norm's Super Challenger will be available to enthusiasts separately. So feel free to mix and match at your pleasure. Two of the most humorously cheesy press releases since Velveeta went into business await below to explain the details.

Holy horsepower! It’s Mr. Norm and his Super Challenger. Armed with a pavement pounding 900 horsepower Kenne Bell supercharged and intercooled 6.1 Hemi engine, the Super Challenger is the new Sheriff in town. The neon lit streets and shadowy alleys are rife with pimped out sedans, wicked coupes, and other automotive scum. Life is over for these creatures of the night, ‘cause Mr. Norm and the Super Challenger are here to run ‘em out of Dodge.

Just the sight of the Super Challenger strikes fear into the hearts of carminals everywhere. With its Jet Black body and Blazing Red stripe, punctuated with the legendary Mark of Mr. Norm on the front fenders, they’ll know that they’ve more than met their match when they face off against the Super Challenger.

And no super heroes ride would be complete without a Katzkin custom leather interior. The guts of the Super Challenger exudes Mr. Norm’s take no prisoners attitude, with its black leather and contrasting red accents. Our hero grabs gears with a Hurst Pistol Grip Shifter, the most powerful shifter in the world. Do ‘ya feel lucky, punk?

Mr. Norm’s Super Challenger forged wheels by Rodtana wear Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires that grip the asphalt with cat woman like claws. Hotchkis Performance created the lowered suspension that provides the crouching, ready to strike stance, while SSBC 8 Piston Disc Brakes are ready to take a Big Bite out of crime.

The bellicose sound produced by the Corsa Performance exhaust on the Super Challenger may wake up the dead in its attempt to muffle the 900 horsepower raging elephant that resides just beneath the Mopar Six Pack hood, but it’s music to Mr. Norm’s ears. And the Super Challenger’s front spoiler and side scoops by Hulst Customs provide the finishing touch to the exterior, providing proof positive that badass really is beautiful.

Introducing the Mr. Norm’s Super Cuda. Drawing inspiration from its race bred relative, the legendary 1970 AAR Cuda, the Super Cuda features a dramatic restyling package that matches heart stopping good looks with heart pounding performance.

Amplifying its presence, the Super Cuda features a modern interpretation of the classic Cuda grille and tail panel, coupled with an aggressive front spoiler that infuses it with undeniable character. Reinforcing the theme, the sides of the Hemi Orange Super Cuda are boldly accented with satin black strobe stripes by Sharpline Converting that match the sinister Sherwin-Williams Planet Color Badass Black that covers the hood and adjacent surfaces, much like its storied ancestor. Inside, the cockpit features a Hurst Shifter for precise shifting of the five speed transmission, a Katzkin “Barracuda” custom leather interior with Hemi Orange perforated inserts and Super Cuda monogrammed carpet mats by Designer Mat.

And if all that’s not enough, just wait ‘til you push the start button and awaken the wild 900 horsepower Kenne Bell supercharged 16 plug HEMI engine. Singing its siren song through a low restriction Corsa Performance cat back dual exhaust system, the Super Cuda balances tire smoking power with a tuned suspension engineered by Hotchkis Performance. Insuring fade free stops from high speed are massive Stainless Steel Brakes V8 8-Piston calipers. Rolling stock consists of Rodtana 22” modular wheels matched with Pirelli Scorpion Zero Assimetrico ultra high performance tires.

Add it all up and you’ve got the new Mr. Norm’s Super Cuda, the street lethal sport coupe. Armed with nothing less than a ground pounding 6.1 Hemi engine, it’s complemented by a chassis with just the right mix of components to harness its power. The Super Cuda looks like a wolf in wolfs clothing, because it is. This is one vehicle that speaks loudly and carries a very big stick.

<![CDATA[ Turbonetics F-150 SEMA Special Does Its Best Lightning Impression ]]> PickupTrucks.com reports the forced-induction freaks at Turbonetics are taking a perfectly good 2009 Ford F-150 and bolting on a ceramic ball-bearing turbo for this year's SEMA show. The boost, channeled through a Spearco air-to-air intercooler in the front air dam, should be good for about 100 extra horsepower from the 320 HP 5.4-liter V8. Given that this is SEMA we're talking about, Turbonetics was also obliged to add a lowering kit, custom body and paint work, meaty wheels and tires, carbon fiber and suede interior bits and a mega-wattage Rockford Fosgate sound system. Really though, we'd have been cool with just the hundred extra ponies.

<![CDATA[ RKSport Hyundai Genesis To Show Off Maximized Performance At SEMA ]]> Hyundai is partnering with RKSport Incorporated to develop a high-performance Genesis sedan for the 2008 SEMA Show. The modifications list reads like the rap sheet on a Fast and Furious movie including TSW wheels, Baer brakes, K&N air filter, Eibach lowering springs and a Magnaflow exhaust system. Perhaps even more to the FNF point are the composite hood, spoiler, front and rear fascias, and side skirts. We're expecting the car to show with a tuned version of Hyundai's 375 HP V8, but we'll just have to wait to find out if it brings any actual upgrades along to Vegas.

<![CDATA[ Toyo Tires Shows Off 2008 SEMA Line-Up ]]> The Nissan GT-R, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Studebaker hot rod, disfigured Bentley Continental GT, and lifted Toyota Tundra you see here are the five cars Toyo Tires will be bringing to the upcoming 2008 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. But what's the one thing they all have in common—besides wearing Toyo rubber? They're all ridiculous caricatures! Well, the 1931 Studebaker Model 54 hot rod might not be so bad, but if the rendering pictured is accurate, its non-existent ride height means it's nothing but a trailer queen. The most subtly tuned of the rest is the Nissan GT-R, which sports some carbon-fiber body parts, an Amuse titanium exhaust and Endless six-piston brakes. The rest of the bunch are a bit more radical.

The green Mitsubish Lancer Evo X is boasting 650 HP. The Bentley Continental GT (yes that's what's hiding under that awful body kit) brags of 800 HP. The Tundra? Well it's a huge lifted truck with green tribal grpahics...need we say more? And to think this is just the tip of the SEMA iceberg. [via MotorAuthority]

<![CDATA[ Toyota Reveals Venza Project Car For SEMA ]]> We're not going to pretend to be excited about the new Toyota Venza crossover, but Toyota's trying to get someone under 40 interested by bringing a pair of restyled Venzas to the SEMA show in Vegas later this month. Tuners Five Axis and Street Design have been tapped to make the mods, and it's interesting to see the different approaches the two companies are taking in their design renders.

Five Axis is playing on the Venza's utility roots by adding style but also a number of cargo and convenience features like an integrated cargo/bike carrier. Street Design went a more traditional route with huge wheels and tires, some ground effects, and a full complement of interior luxury touches. Since these are just models for inspiration, we'll have to wait for SEMA to see how close the two Venzas get to their renderings, but we'll be sure to bring you the results from the show floor. <![CDATA[ ICON Builds An FJ43, FJ45 For SEMA ]]> The Land Cruiser devotees at ICON have been blessing us with SEMA eye-candy for a couple years now, and it looks like they'll be showing off two new projects in Vegas for 2008. First up is an FJ43 Cruiser done up with coil suspension, Recaro seats and beefed-up axles and transfer case, all motivated by a 450 HP GM LS V8 engine. Icon will also be showing a custom FJ45 Long Bed, basically a resto with mild customization to bring it into the 21st century mechanically. We love these old Cruisers, and ICON always does a great job respecting the original design while updating where necessary, so we're looking forward to seeing these rides in person in October.

<![CDATA[ Street Concepts Hyundai Genesis Coupe Concept Coming To SEMA ]]> An urban-camo version of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe will be debuting at this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas. As the rendering of the car shows, it'll employ the "secret military project gone horribly wrong" style of SEMA design, as opposed to the "straight forward performance" look of the HKS Genesis Coupe or the "possibly ripped-off Lexus tuner design" look of the RMR Genesis Coupe. The performance enhancements will include a new exhaust, cold-air intake, tweaked suspension and Brembo brakes. Larger version of the rendering here. Press release below the jump.

STREET CONCEPTS TO DEVELOP CUSTOMIZED HYUNDAI GENESIS COUPE for SEMA SHOW

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. XX, 2008 – Hyundai Motor America announced that it is partnering with Street Concepts, one of the leading developers of auto show vehicles, to create a modified Genesis Coupe for the 2008 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. The all-new, rear-wheel drive Street Concepts Genesis Coupe will make its SEMA Show debut at the Las Vegas Convention Center on November 4, 2008. The Street Concepts Genesis Coupe will join vehicles designed by Rhys Millen and HKS as the third Genesis Coupe scheduled to appear at SEMA.

“Its aggressive, powerful design and high performance attributes make the Genesis Coupe a perfect vehicle for SEMA,” said Shawn Williams, owner, Street Concepts. “We plan to maximize the driving capabilities of the Genesis Coupe while striving for a level of practicality so that average consumers can take ideas from our vehicle and adapt it to their own.”

The Street Concepts Genesis Coupe will be outfitted with a black camouflage, stealth fighter-inspired paint design that compliments its sports’ styling. The exterior will also feature a custom grille design, tinted taillights and an APR rear wing.

“From its inception, Genesis Coupe was developed with the tuner buyer in mind. The Street Concepts vehicle accentuates the core DNA of the product, born from enthusiast driver demands,” said Derek Joyce, Genesis Coupe product manager, Hyundai Motor America. “The three Genesis Coupes scheduled to be displayed at the SEMA Show exemplify the tuner-based performance potential of the vehicle.”

The Street Concepts Genesis Coupe will showcase Volk 19-inch racing wheels, performance tires, a modified suspension and Brembo brakes. A Magnaflow cat-back exhaust and cold air intake system will enhance the performance of the 3.8-liter V6 engine.

Interior modifications include carbon fiber dashboard accents, a custom Infinity audio system, Cobra seats and black suede accents designed to fit the stealth jet fighter theme.

HYUNDAI GENESIS COUPE HIGHLIGHTS

* Hyundai’s first rear-wheel drive sports car
* 306-horsepower (est.) from enhanced 3.8-liter V6 from Genesis sedan
* Standard 210-horsepower intercooled, turbocharged, in-line 4-cylinder

<![CDATA[ HKS Tunes 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe ]]> Even though no media outlets have yet driven the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, that hasn’t stopped the company from handing them out to every tuner in the western hemisphere. The latest to get their grubby, carbon-stained hands on the Coupe is HKS, known for sticking big turbos in little cars — which is exactly the approach they took with the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. No performance numbers have been revealed yet, but expect HKS to unveil a range of Genesis performance upgrades, along with the boobs of several trashy booth babes at the SEMA show in November. The full press release follows the jump.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 3, 2008 – Hyundai Motor America today announced that HKS USA, Inc. will create a high-performance Genesis Coupe for the 2008 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show. The all-new, rear-wheel drive Hyundai model will make its SEMA debut at the Las Vegas Convention Center Nov. 4 – Nov. 7, 2008. HKS, the leading manufacturer of premium performance parts, is the second company to join Hyundai for this year’s SEMA show.

“Genesis Coupe has the basic DNA that HKS looks for – an excellent chassis, rear-wheel drive, aggressive styling and a new generation turbo-charged engine. These attributes provide the opportunity for HKS to maximize the Genesis Coupe driving performance capabilities for the serious driving enthusiast,” said Rick Lafferty, president, HKS USA, Inc. “HKS is allocating R&D, engineering and prototyping resources to lay the groundwork for HKS-brand Genesis Coupe performance parts. We are looking forward to working with Hyundai to realize the full performance potential of the Genesis Coupe.”

The HKS plan for the Genesis Coupe includes a HKS GT Turbo upgrade to maximize horsepower and torque, HKS engine internals, HKS limited-edition turbo exhaust system, HKS Super Mega Flow Intake System, HKS Engine Management and HKS Hipermax III fully-adjustable suspension.

“We’ve designed Genesis Coupe from the start to be tuner-friendly,” said John Krafcik, vice president, Product Development and Strategic Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Partnering with an industry leader like HKS is a terrific way for us to stretch the performance envelope of Genesis Coupe.”

The HKS Genesis Coupe will also showcase functional ground effects designed by Ken Style, HKS Time-Attack cars’ aerodynamic partner. The interior will emphasize driver comfort and control with HKS electronics including CAMP2 that monitors up to 24 data signals from the Genesis OBD2 and programmable calculations for fuel costs, average fuel consumption and fuel efficiency in real time.

HYUNDAI GENESIS COUPE HIGHLIGHTS
• Hyundai’s first rear-wheel drive sports car
• 306 horsepower (est.) from enhanced 3.8-liter V6 from Genesis sedan
• Standard 212 horsepower (est.) turbocharged, intercooled inline four cylinder
• Genesis Coupe arrives in the spring of 2009 as a 2010 model

<![CDATA[ Hurst/Hemi Challenger Expected To Grind Gears At 2008 SEMA Show ]]> The old-school shifter gurus at Hurst are back in the custom vehicle business, choosing the 2009 Dodge Challenger as their latest canvas. The Hurst/Hemi Challenger is scheduled to make its debut at the 2008 SEMA show in Vegas, after which it's expected in dealerships during the first part of next year. A Hurst shifter is included, of course, along with branded wheels, requisite gold stripes and "H" logos. The rest of the package consists of mods in your choice of four different stages of tune, topping out with a 500+ HP blower-equipped version. Now they just need Linda Vaughn's granddaughter on hand to be the spokesmodel. Full release after the jump.

Chatsworth, California — HURST is one of the most recognized and revered names in the history of performance automobiles. The HURST brand has long been synonymous with speed, performance and quality, with an impressive track-record of pioneering performance products for all forms of motorsports and hot-rodding. HURST was one of the first to partner with the OEMs and bring enthusiasts limited edition performance vehicles like the legendary HURST/Olds 442.

HURST is at it again! The newest creation to be rolled out to continue the tradition is the 2009 HURST/HEMI® Challenger. Starting with the HEMI® powered Dodge Challenger SRT8, HURST takes it to the next level as a 500+ HP supercharged limited edition built and tuned by the best in the business.

Nate Shelton, Chairman of HURST, is committed to delivering the value that HURST is known for; “The new HURST/HEMI® Challenger is more than just another muscle car. It epitomizes the performance industries tradition of taking the best Detroit has to offer and adding 21st century performance parts to make your ride faster and cooler than the other guys. HURST has a long history of doing just that with guys like Don Garlits, Warren Johnson, Dick Landy and even celebrity racers Steve McQueen and Jim Garner. The new HURST/HEMI® Challenger is the first of many HURST Performance Vehicles to come. We are ready to make some more history.”

HURST has partnered with some of the best companies in the industry to create a collectible limited edition muscle car with the looks, attitude and credentials to back it up. The HURST/HEMI® Challenger will be available in four Stages of performance trim through participating Dodge dealerships. The details are iconic and impressive; the huge polished five-spoke HURST alloy wheels and the “Pistol-Grip” HURST shifter are inspired by the originals that helped make HURST the legendary brand that it is today.

HURST Performance Vehicles Program Director Ron Flint adds “The legacy of the HURST brand gives us a huge advantage and it sets the bar very high for our team. Our goal is simple; create serious driveway-envy in your neighborhood.”

The HURST/HEMI® Challenger makes its debut at the trade-only SEMA Show in Las Vegas this November. Vehicle production is slated for early 2009.

<![CDATA[ C6-Based C2 'Vette Vaporware: The Rossi 66 ]]> Following in the trend of late-model Corvettes being re-bodied to look like old 'Vettes, this illustration shows Blue Fusion's (that's actually the name of the company, not some fanboy's screen name) hopes for a car that combines the C6 chassis with C2 split-window styling. While this sounds like a great idea, they've yet to actually make one, which is fine by us because they could probably use a history lesson first. You see, they say they're basing the styling of the Rossi 66 on the "1966 C2 split-window Corvette", which is a bit puzzling considering that the iconic split-window design was only on the original 1963 models. But Blue Fusion doesn't have time to study up on trivia, because they're scrambling to get a working production model ready for November's SEMA show. Their optimistic press release is below the jump.

We are pleased to introduce to the Corvette enthusiasts of the world, the new Rossi 66. Taking the most graceful lines of the 1966 C2 split window Corvette, we have crafted an entirely new body designed and engineered specifically for the current C6/Z06/ZR1 platform. We believe the result speaks for itself!

The Rossi 66 was entirely designed and engineered digitally and is the culmination of nearly 100 years of combined experience amongst three of the most experienced automotive designer, sculptor, and engineer in the business. Emphasis added...this is NOT a kit car!

The Rossi 66 will be built to order from a new C6, a C6/Z06/ZR1 or a customer supplied C6 donor chassis to be transformed in our own facilities. The initial offering is a three door coupe with a fully functioning convertible to be developed in the near future. Along with those two variants, there will also be various stages of Sport and Competition versions up to and including a GT2 class type for full on-track racing applications.

As we all know, the substantial capabilities of the C6 chassis and the vast respective tuning suppliers will allow infinite possibilities for a broad range of customer tastes. Partnership with these existing C6 tuners may be negotiated in the future. Also offered from Rossi will be custom designed one-piece/multi-piece light weight Rossi forged wheels, Rossi big brake kits, Rossi custom exhaust system, Rossi appointed interior trims and seating along with many other custom accessories designed specifically for this brand.

The parent corporation, Blue Fusion, has been a Tier One surfacing supplier for Ford Motor Company for over 15 years and is both ISO9001 and Ford Q1 certified (higher than ISO rating scale). Production tolerances will be of the highest in the automotive industry. This includes Class-A surfacing and the fit and finish will be competitive with the best of modern production releases.

Our debut target is to introduce a full running production vehicle to be displayed at SEMA 2008 (investment capitol dependent). The design is near completion and tooling is set to begin next month in September. Investment opportunities are available so if this of interest to someone you know, please don't hesitate to spread the news. The Rossi 66 is available for orders as of today!

For more information regarding either Blue Fusion or the Rossi 66 and it's pricing, please contact David R. Robison at davidr@fusion2k.com.

<![CDATA[ Allegations Of Swiped Designs Surface Over RMR-Tuned Hyundai Genesis Coupe ]]> Yesterday we told you about the first of many modified Hyundai Genesis Coupes to debut at this year's SEMA show. <![CDATA[ 6.4-Liter Hemi-Powered SR 392 Roadster SEMA Special To Hit Auction Block At Monterrey ]]> The SR 392 roadster, built by Quality Metalcraft's Michael Chetcuti and Chrysler's Mark Allen and Ralph Gilles, will be auctioned off in August at the the Russo & Steele car auction during the Monterey Historics. In case you've forgotten, the SR 392 concept made its debut in the Chrysler display at last year's SEMA show and it's named after the 392 6.4-liter Hemi crate engine under the hood. Since then, it's traveled the country, winning show awards left and right. We only hope it finds an owner who treats this Hemi-powered hot rod right. Full press release after the jump.

Private Seller to Auction One-Off Chrysler Concept Roadster at Russo & Steele

A sleek black and chrome Detroit-style roadster, designed by Chrysler's Mark Allen and featuring a 6.4 L Hemi crate engine, will be auctioned at the Russo & Steele car auction in Monterrey, California this August 14-16, 2008. The SR 392 Roadster has won several prestigious awards at Hot Rod shows throughout the country this year.

Detroit, MI (PRWEB) July 30, 2008 — An edgy, HEMI-powered, award-winning roadster from Chrysler's 2007 Mopar SEMA exhibit will be up for bidding at the August 14-16 Russo and Steele Auction in Monterey, California.

The SR 392 Roadster, featured widely in 2008 issues of both Hot Rod and Street Rodder magazines, has won numerous prestigious awards. Most recently it was hand-selected by the widow of the late Boyd Coddington for a Boyd Coddington's Pro's Pick Award at the Good Guys Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

It also won a Chip Foose Design Excellence Award at the 2008 Grand National Roadster Show. "This hot rod is truly trend-setting. It's design elements will be mirrored in hot rods and show vehicles for years to come," Foose said.

For nearly two years, Chrysler's Mark Allen and Ralph Gilles planned to build the SR 392 Roadster as a SEMA stunner with Michael Chetcuti of Livonia, Mich.-based auto supplier, Quality Metalcraft (QMC). Allen is chief designer, Jeep/Dodge Truck Studios - Chrysler LLC and Gilles is Vice President of Jeep/Truck & CFM Design - Chrysler LLC. Gilles and Allen are members of Chrysler's Mopar Underground SEMA design team, a group of in-house automotive enthusiasts who donate their time to SEMA project vehicles.

Allen, Chetcuti and Gilles saw a challenge in proving that the 6.4-liter HEMI crate engine could apply to a vehicle other than traditional muscle cars or modified upfits. The team's idea was to redefine the classic hot rod with a more functional urban and industrial attitude to create a distinctly Detroit roadster.

Allen said, ''It was important to convey the car's theme as an homage to Detroit - the cool Detroit with its unique artistic community, music and gritty vibe. We used durable materials and let the mechanicals show to reflect the industrial backbone of the city. We wrapped it all up in a high-gloss black-and-chrome wrapper to evoke Detroit's cool attitude.''

''The core design elements of this roadster speak to the grit and industrial edge of our city,'' said Chetcuti. ''Things like the mezzanine flooring detail and Eames-inspired seating - these take an industrial cue but are by no means 'rat-rod.' It is a refined and organized design throughout.''

Awards for the SR 392:

* Mothers Choice Award - Excellence in Automotive Design (SEMA, 2007)
* Hot Wheels Designer's Choice Award (SEMA, 2007)
* Chip Foose Design Excellence Award (Grand National Roadster Show, 2008)

<![CDATA[ Rhys Millen-Tuned Hyundai Genesis Coupe Racer To Debut At 2008 SEMA Show ]]> Hyundai announced they've teamed with Rhys Millen Racing to build and introduce a track-going version of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe for this year's SEMA show. This Rhys Millen Racer is the first of a plethora of custom jobs from some of the best, brightest and ballsiest tuning shops who've received a Genesis coupe to play with before this year's SEMA show.

The Rhys Millen race boys will be massaging everything, including the engine, suspension, body and interior. A few of the upgrades include a big turbo kit on the 2.0-liter four-cylinder (an engine and modification we expect to be very popular when the car goes on sale) hooked to an HKS sequential race transmission, a coil-over suspension and lightweight Enkei wheels wrapped in Potenza tires. The body gets upgraded in the form of additional width, aero enhancements, a functional hood scoop and a carbon fiber wing at the back. This thing ain't your little bro's kimchee rocket. Full details in the presser below.

HYUNDAI TEAMS UP WITH RHYS MILLEN RACING TO INTRODUCE GENESIS COUPE AT SEMA SHOW FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., 07/30/2008 Hyundai Motor America announced today that it has teamed up with Rhys Millen Racing (RMR) to create the "Art of Speed" Genesis Coupe show car. The Hyundai RMR "Art of Speed" Genesis Coupe 2.0t will be on display at the Hyundai booth at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in the Las Vegas Convention Center from Nov. 4 - Nov. 7, 2008. The RMR Genesis Coupe will be the first of many Genesis Coupes to be modified by some of the best tuner shops in the world. This RMR - developed Genesis Coupe will be a fully functional race car capable of putting the driver in the winner's circle.

The unique part of this project is that it will be moving art, which is why we named it the 'Art of Speed,'" says Rhys Millen, professional race driver and founder of RMR. "The focus will be on the engine and a radical body design to complement the factory body lines. We are going to transform the Genesis Coupe into an apex-carving machine with jaw-dropping looks. We think it has the possibility of being one of the coolest cars at the show."

The RMR Genesis Coupe will be powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine with RMR turbo kit for maximum horsepower and torque. It will be equipped with a heavy-duty HKS sequential transmission and a K&W coil over suspension to put that additional power to the ground. The are just some of the planned mechanical modifications to turn the Genesis Coupe into a race car capable of running in the Pikes Pike Hill Climb, Formula D or Redline Time Attack series.

"We've been excited about working with Rhys Millen since the minute he walked through our doors at Hyundai Motor America," says John Krafcik, vice president, product development and strategic planning, Hyundai Motor America. "Genesis Coupe is a rear-wheel drive performance machine we designed to capture the hearts of hardcore automotive enthusiasts, so we can't wait to see Rhys' RMR Genesis Coupe on the race track."

The RMR Genesis Coupe will be outfitted in a silver and black paint scheme and dominated by a RMR wide body kit, functional hood scoop and a carbon fiber wing. Enkei racing wheels and Bridgestone Protenza RE-01 tires surrounding Brembo brake calipers complete the package.

Inside will be a racing cockpit with Sparco steering wheel and seats, eight-point roll cage and a RMR carbon fiber dash.

<![CDATA[ Dealers, Supercharge Your Dodge Challengers! ]]> At this years SEMA show, Dodge will be unveiling a new supercharger kit for the 2008 Dodge Challenger, providing the potential to significantly boost output from the stock 425 HP (in SRT8 trim). The dealer-installed option will be sold through the Mopar brand, and if the co-developed kits from Speedfactory are any indication, it'll consist of a Vortec blower with a cold air intake good for a whopping 630 HP. Hey, that's right up there with the Corvette ZR1's numbers.

Okay, so the Challenger will still fall behind thanks to its rather portly 4,140 lb curb weight, but that'll be one hell of a ride. Oh, and don't get yourselves in a tizzy over that Plum Crazy Purple Challenger; we did that one ourselves, Chrysler style. [MotorAuthority]

<![CDATA[ Detroit Auto Show: Dodge Caravan R/T Concept Gets You to Target Faster ]]> Dodge brought their the Caravan R/T to the floor of the Detroit Auto show. This sporty soccer sled debuted at SEMA last year, but you'll have to forgive us from passing on it the first time. The powertrain details are vague (though there's definitely a sport-tuned dual exhaust and revised power control module), but the vehicle clearly got the sport treatment with new front/rear fascias, rocker panels, lowered suspension and what's clearly an entirely functional spoiler. On the inside, you'll find perforated suede seating inserts with R/T-red accented stitching. A quicker answer to the neverending query: "Are we there yet?"

<![CDATA[ Cube-ism: Automobile Meets Art ]]> Turns out Mr. Jeff Winterberg, despite the "murky details," was right about the Nissan Cubes at Pratt. Nissan is having design students hack on the interiors and then present the results at the NY Auto Show in April. But, what he had no way of knowing about was that the Brooks Institute film school in Santa Barbara, CA also has two of the rolling boxes. Why? To "intemperate and communicate the essence of the vehicle," of course. When we were in school we were only asked to intemperate and communicate the essence of Jungian archetypes vis-a-vis Freud's analytical methods while fighting hangovers. Sigh... Full press release from Nissan after the jump.

NISSAN CUBE COLLABORATION INVITES FILM AND DESIGN STUDENTS TO THINK "OUTSIDE OF THE CUBE" Las Vegas, NV — October 30, 2007 — Nissan North America (NNA) today announced a unique partnership with two film and design schools to showcase the Nissan Cube, a product sold in Japan, in the American market in a very distinctive way. The collaboration will task students to create provocative films and designs by integrating the Cube's inspirational and stylish design. The Brooks Institute film school in Santa Barbara, CA and Pratt Institute, School of Art and Design in New York City will participate in the Cube project, Cube-ism: Automobile Meets Art.

"When first launched in Japan, the Nissan Cube was the 'must-have' car for the uber-fashionable and trendy consumers," says Bruce Campbell, vice president, Design, Nissan Design America. "It quickly skyrocketed to become an icon in Japan, and - as Nissan continues to think big about small products - this project helps us understand how we can translate that success to other markets like North America."

Each school will receive two Nissan Cubes and participants from each school will be asked to interpret and communicate the essence of the vehicle. Both the Film and Design students will be asked to present concept direction presentations at the outset of the project for Nissan review and will meet with Nissan for periodic updates. The film students will be tasked with creating a short film, between 5-10 minutes long, that highlights the essence of the Nissan Cube. The design students are challenged with enhancing the Cube through changes in exterior colors, graphics, seat materials and wheel treatments. Projects will also include an eco-friendly element. Final works will be featured at the 2008 New York International Auto Show in April.

<![CDATA[ How To Wrap Your Car Mirrors In Carbon Fiber ]]> So we noticed at SEMA this year that carbon fiber has become the new matte black. And if you remember, as we learned from SEMA last year, matte black is the new black. Now, because of a desire for the "carbon fiber look" — lovers of tuners of all shapes, colors and chrome appendages are taking the time-honored tradition of finding ways to lighten their cars — and throwing them out the window. Most of us already know that instead of fabricating new carbon-fiber parts, many lovers of the over-pimped are merely wrapping their pre-existing car parts in carbon-fiber. Yay, 1.25 times the weight, and 1.25 times less performance. Anyway — if you happen to be one of the silly people interested, the folks over at VolvoSpeed have put together a little "How-To" on wrapping your car parts in carbon-fiber. Although it may seem like we're aiding and abetting, we've gone and galleried 'em up below in the hopes of showing the little ones what not to do with their side mirrors. You know — for the kids. Don't follow along with the step-by-step instructions under each one of the pictures.

<![CDATA[ Pratt & Miller Confirm Corvette C6RS Production ]]> The kids over at the Road that is ever-Winding got themselves the scoop straight from the press release of Pratt & Miller Engineering on the Corvette C6RS. Yes, the rumors are true, you too can own Jay Leno's ride — or at least one of a limited-edition run of the E85-powered sub-ZR1 modeled off Leno's car shown at the SEMA show in Vegas last week. We're waiting until we can get one in red. Full press release after the jump.

Pratt & Miller Engineering Introduces Corvette C6RS Supercar for the Street Championship-Winning Race Team Develops the Ultimate Performance Corvette for the Highway

NEW HUDSON, Mich., Oct. 30, 2007 - Pratt & Miller Engineering has designed and developed a new limited edition Corvette C6RS that provides an exceptional level of performance and refinement for enthusiasts. Inspired by the Le Mans-winning Corvette C6.R race cars, the new Pratt & Miller Corvette C6RS supercar combines advanced racing technology with everyday driveability. The first production Corvette C6RS will be available in April 2008.

Powered by a Katech Performance 8.2-liter (500ci) all-aluminum
small-block V-8 engine that produces 600 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft.
torque, the Pratt & Miller Corvette C6RS employs a purpose-built
carbon fiber body to reduce weight and improve aerodynamic efficiency. A
computer-controlled adjustable suspension system, center-nut forged
aluminum BBS wheels with Michelin tires, and massive Brembo monoblock
disc brakes enhance vehicle dynamics. A two-tone leather interior and a
comprehensive sound control system produce a quiet, comfortable
environment for driver and passenger.

"Our goal was to create a Corvette supercar that delivers an
extremely high level of performance with extraordinary comfort and
reliability," said Gary Pratt, co-owner of Pratt & Miller Engineering. "The
Corvette C6RS was inspired by our Corvette race program, but it's not a race
car for the street. You can take the Corvette C6RS on a 300-mile road
trip, or drive it to a track day and run fast laps."

Conceived, designed, developed and constructed by the
championship-winning Pratt & Miller team, the Corvette C6RS bristles
with sophisticated materials and race-inspired technology. The
aggressively styled lightweight body, made entirely of carbon fiber,
measures 1.6 inches wider than a production Corvette Z06. The carbon
fiber front fascia has integrated brake ducts and ram air induction.
Aerodynamic enhancements include functional front fender louvers, a
carbon fiber underwing and rear diffuser, enlarged front wheel vents
and rear brake ducts, an integrated rear spoiler, and a front splitter.

"Every body modification has a purpose," Pratt explained. "The
features were modeled on the C6.R race cars, and there are no nonfunctional
styling elements."

The C6RS chassis is upgraded to complement the improved aerodynamic
grip. A Dynamic Ride Height Control suspension system provides three
driver-adjustable settings: Low, Drive and High. In the Low mode, the
system lowers the ride height to improve handling, while the High
setting increases ground clearance to negotiate steep driveways and
ramps. The suspension is upgraded with Pratt & Miller-tuned dampers
and heavy-duty wheel hubs and bearings.

The same manufacturers who supply tires, wheels, and brakes for the
Corvette C6.R race cars also provide the rolling stock for the Pratt &
Miller C6RS. The street car's BBS forged aluminum wheels (18 x
11-inch front, 19 x 13.6-inch rear) have racing-style center nuts. The
stunning black chrome wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires
(P295/30-18 front and P345/30-19 rear). The Brembo Grand Tourismo
brake system delivers impressive stopping power with six-piston monoblock
front calipers with 14-inch rotors and four-piston monoblock rear
calipers with 13.5-inch rotors.

With 600 horsepower on tap, the 8.2-liter C6RS engine rivals the
performance of the restricted 7.0-liter engines that powered the C6.R
race cars to five GT class victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and
seven consecutive American Le Mans Series championships. Developed by
engine partner Katech Performance, the 500ci small-block V-8 is based
on a high-strength 6061-T6 billet aluminum Dart block with linerless
Nicom-coated 4.205-inch diameter cylinder bores. The rotating
assembly features a forged steel crankshaft (4.500-inch stroke), forged 4340
steel connecting rods, and 11:1 compression forged aluminum pistons.
The custom-built CORSA stainless steel exhaust system employs the company's
patented Reflective Sound Cancellation(tm) (RSC) technology to optimize
interior and exterior sound quality. An aluminum flywheel and twin-disc
clutch transfer the engine's torque to a blueprinted T56 six-speed
transmission.

A luxurious interior is the counterpoint to the Corvette C6RS's cutting
edge technology. A Dynamat sound insulation system produces a quiet
refuge, while the instrument panel, doors, console, steering wheel
and seats are wrapped in premium quality leather with French seams.
"Our goal with the Corvette C6RS was to capture the soul and spirit
of the Corvette C6.R race car in a premium GT car for the street," said
Pratt. "The C6RS is a car with a legendary racing heritage and an
unrivalled engineering pedigree. Just as the Corvette C6.R race car has
become the benchmark in production-based sports car competition, we
believe that the Pratt & Miller Corvette C6RS will set the new standard
for sports car performance and luxury on the highway."

Founded in 1989 by Gary Pratt and Jim Miller, Pratt & Miller Engineering
& Fabrication provides automotive and non-automotive clients with
leading-edge engineering and low-volume manufacturingsolutions. For

<![CDATA[ How Heico Sportiv "Chrome-Plated" The Volvo S80 ]]>
Amidst all of the glitz and chrome of the SEMA show in Vegas, there was one concept car that stood out — mostly because the paint reflected so much light in the Las Vegas Convention Center you couldn't ignore it. This seemingly chrome-plated beast is the Heico Sportiv-tuned S80 T6 "High Performance Concept." To begin with, it's a Volvo S80 powered not by the high-powered 4.4-liter Yamaha V8 that's in the engine bay of the up-model version — an engine that generates 311 HP, mind you. Instead, it's powered by the new T6 engine, which ups the standard engine lineup to 350 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 405 lb.-ft. of torque between 1,500 and 4,000 rpm. Heico estimates that with the T6, this S80 concept can reach 62 mph in just 5.8 seconds. But the real story's the paint job. As you can see from the video above, nearly every panel of the Heico S80 T6 HPC was re-fabricated. The S80's front clip was replaced with a more aggressive nose that incorporates ultra-slim LED turn-signal indicators, a deeper front air dam and wide intake tunnels for improved airflow into the intercooler and brakes. And oh, yes, there's the "metal effect" paint scheme. Seven coats were applied over a two-week period, and the process allows for no "touch-ups" whatsoever. So once you get it, don't expect to drive it...ever. Full release from Volvo below the jump.

Heico Sportiv Unleashes Beastly S80 T6 HPC at 2007 SEMA Show

Las Vegas, NV (October 30, 2007) - The lights of Las Vegas reflect flawlessly in the gleaming aluminum paint of the Heico Sportiv S80 T6 High Performance Concept (HPC). Being shown for the first time in North America at the 2007 Specialty Equipment Market Association tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV, the S80 T6 HPC is a literal reflection of power, sophistication and athleticism as can be seen in its unique 7-layer "aluminum effect" body paint. But the S80 T6 HPC is more than just a pretty face. It's a true example that a powerful luxury sedan can also be sensitive to the environment.

"Heico Sportiv is honored to once again be working with Volvo Cars to build the exciting S80 T6 HPC for this year's SEMA show," said Holger Hedtke, President of Heico. The 2007 show marks the second year Heico Sportiv has partnered with Volvo Cars to create a SEMA concept. This year, Heico shows its mettle with the S80 T6 HPC and the C30 Surf Pattern (see separate release). "The S80 T6 HPC is really where we put all our efforts this year," continued Hedtke, "It is our most advance concept to date and it's one that Heico is extremely proud of."

But getting to Las Vegas wasn't easy. The project began as the curtain fell on last year's SEMA show. Behind closed doors Heico executives sat down to put to paper the 2007 concept. The result is a Volvo S80 T6 that has been tuned to an amazing 350-horsepower while running on bioethanol fuel.

When the S80 arrived at Heico's shop in Weiterstadt, Germany in early 2007, Holger and his team knew they had their work cut out for them. The S80 began life with a 3.2-liter inline-six engine and front-wheel drive because production had yet to begin on the Volvo S80 T6, which has standard all-wheel drive. A new T6 engine was delivered from Sweden and work began in earnest.

Performance

The first order of business was to make a significant increase in horsepower. The standard Volvo T6 engine produces 281 horsepower, which is enough to move the S80 with spirited ease. But this is a SEMA concept and a significant bump in horsepower and torque were a necessity. Once the engine was modified to run on E85 ethenol, Heico turned its attention to maximizing power with high-performance engine software, a new intercooler and a stainless steel racing exhaust system. The end results were impressive: 350 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 405 lb.-ft. of torque between 1,500 and 4,000 rpm. The Heico S80 T6 HPC is estimated to reach 62 mph in just 5.8 seconds.

But getting that power to the ground required extensive work. As the standard S80 3.2 is a front-wheel-drive car it was determined that to truly explore the vehicle's potential all-wheel drive was needed. Enter Volvo's renowned Haldex All-Wheel-Drive system with Instant Traction. The system continuously routes power to whichever wheel has the most traction and Heico modified it with heartier gears to handle the enormous amount of torque.

Stopping power is provided via a 6-piston braking system with custom blue-painted calipers and high performance brake pads. Volvo's ABS and electronic brake distribution systems are fully functioning. Large 13.9-inch disc brakes reside in custom forged alloy wheels measuring 9-inches wide and 20 inches in diameter. The specially developed Volution X wheels are wrapped in aggressive 255/30R-20 Continental tires.

The Heico S80 T6 HPC rides on a chassis that is 1.5 inches lower than Volvo's set ride height and the sport-tuned suspension features firmer springs and struts at all four corners. "We aimed to tune all the components to achieve a dynamic yet harmonious ride. In other words, a true sports car experience without losing the luxurious and comfortable touch that is the hallmark of the Volvo S80," noted Hedtke.

Interior

Hedtke's comments about the S80 T6 HPC's ride and handling translate directly to the interior of the car. "It was important to communicate the intention of this car as a true sports car, but one that is also luxurious and comfortable," said Hedtke. Starting from the standard S80's innovative center console, Heico's interior designers decided to sweep the arc throughout the length of the interior, creating four sport bucket seats. The heavily bolstered thrones are separated by the console that is wrapped in stunning silver aluminum carbon fiber.

Paying homage to Volvo's use of blue in its logo, nearly every surface that isn't aluminum is swathed in soft Mystic Blue leather, including the headliner, instrument panel and door panels. The rear seats have been completely redesigned to accommodate the center console and the front seats have thicker side and thigh bolsters. Fully integrated controls for the rear seat entertainment system, cup holders and storage bins are all found beneath the gleaming aluminum "floating" center console. Interior trim panels and accents are bathed in silver carbon.

The S80 T6 HPC driver will find a thick, comfortable sport steering wheel with which to unleash the vehicle's power. The sport pedals foot rest and door pins are all formed from billet aluminum. The crowing touch is the Mystic Blue glowing door-sill panels.

Exterior

Refined, elegant and stylish are all words that have been used to describe the Volvo S80. With Heico's attention to the car's exterior, words such as powerful, imposing and dominance may also be uttered when the car makes its North American debut at SEMA.

"Our goal was to take Volvo's elegant design for the S80 and make it really stand out at this year's show, said Hedtke, "That's not an easy thing to do in Las Vegas, but everyone who sees the car agrees that it's truly striking."

What first leaps to the viewer's attention is the striking "metal effect" paint scheme. Seven coats were applied over a two-week period and the process allows for no re-shoots or touch-ups making the Heico S80 T6 HPC truly inspiring. "We're hoping that those in attendance at the SEMA show will drop by the Volvo booth to take a look at this car," commented Hedtke. "Since there are so many custom paint jobs done by truly talented artists from around the world represented in Las Vegas, we feel the S80 T6 HPC will be truly appreciated."

Nearly every panel of the Heico S80 T6 HPC was re-fabricated. The S80's front clip was replaced with a more aggressive nose that incorporates ultra-slim LED turn-signal indicators, a deeper front air dam and wide intake tunnels for improved airflow into the intercooler and brakes.

The new soft nose seamlessly blends into the aggressive wheel arches that hug tightly around the custom 20-inch wheels and tires. Deep side sills beneath the doors lend to the aggressive stance of the vehicle and assist in aerodynamics. A completely new rear bumper cap features slender rectangular exhaust ports and carbon fiber inserts.

<![CDATA[ Rimdiculousness: SEMA Chrome ]]> Wheel companies know gawking at big, shiny things is human nature. Thus, eons ago, was born the 17-inch rim. After radical mutations and massive doses of Chromium Growth Hormone, the size of rims is now bounded only by tire companies' willingness to wrap them in rubber. Lexani, for example, has a 42-inch rim that's been sitting naked in front of the company's SEMA booth for at least two years now. With any luck, it shall remain so. While I was staring at it, again dumbstruck, Hip-Hop Minstrels, The Pack walked up and instantly fell in love (with the rim, not me). Another company, dubbed GH (stands for Good Health) created rims that look like barbell weights. GH gives $2k out of every $15k rim purchase — you heard that right — to charity for children's health programs. The super-pricey rims impart a prison bling feeling to me though, and makes me wonder when orange jumpsuits are going to come into fashion. Somebody else had a roulette wheel themed rim with Louis Vuitton leather in the center area, which is probably 100% authentic and officially licensed. (LV Fakes page)

<![CDATA[ SEMA 2007: ENDLESS APPLICATION POTENTIAL! ]]> Carbonetic is an offshoot of Across, which produces carbon-carbon composites using a patented method. The translation is that since they can make nearly anything out of carbon-carbon, they can also produce a series of clutches, limited slip differentials, and brake pads using the same stuff. What impressed us the most was the multiplate clutch setup. The usually heavy steel floater center plate discs in carbon-carbon weigh almost nothing. Picking one up makes for a hand does not believe the eye kind of thing. Carbonetic also has a line of single plate street clutches using sprung hubs and carbon composite for the under 500 horsepower cars out in the garage or driveway. [Carbonetic]

<![CDATA[ SEMA 2007: Turbo Plumbing Bonanza, Part 1 ]]> You would be correct if you're thinking that we ran something like this from last year's friction materials SEMA convention accompanied by some random musings about Norse death metal. Thundering crescendos of dualing lead guitar aside, a year ago we only ran one image. Thanks to the ongoing miracle of the internets we can now bring you shots of not only the VQ, but some 1000 hp twin-turbo LS1-LS2 action along with some scooby doo. Zoinks! [Air Power Systems]

<![CDATA[ SEMA 2007: Plymouth GTX Wagon for 1968 ]]> The story goes the original owner of this wagon was dismayed to find that the Plymouth GTX came out just weeks after he purchased the mighty land yacht. So dismayed in fact he took it back down to the dealer and made them option it the same as a Belvedere-based Plymouth GTX coupe. A 440 with six-pack bolted to a 4-speed get the heavy moving in modern times. We found the wagon at the Hotchkis booth, serving as a platform for a new line of sport suspensions for Mopars coming next year. We swear the lines on these wagons drifted right off sixties top fuel slingshot dragsters - or F-104 Starfighters. Sport wagons, ho!

<![CDATA[ LCD Rims: TV for the Tires ]]> Remember what we said about finding the tasteful stuff among the endless supply of aftermarket glitz here at SEMA? We lied. The above video clip indicates what can happen when technology meets the world of dumbass automotive accouterments. The idea is to use these TV rims as a new mode of over-the-road product messaging, though we'd imagine all sorts of uses, like displaying other cars' rims, Japanese tentacle-rape porn or random shots of vegetables. The possibilities are endless.

<![CDATA[ SEMA 2007: Twin-Turbo LS1 V7 Super Coupe in Vegas ]]> The night and day efforts of three guys over the course of six months is under the lights here in sin city. Twin turbos on the LS1 helped twist the dyno to to read 1067 horsepower and 980 foot pounds of torque and make the V7 Super Coupe, as Phil from American Super Car put it - a D9 Cat in Corvette clothing. Right after bolting in the steering column before this shot was taken the crew realized the adapter hub for the steering wheel didn't exist. Phil fired up the mill at 4AM last Thursday morning and machined one so the car could get here and Mequires could put the detail on the machine for their booth. Next year promises a 1966 supercharged mid-engine drop top Vette.

<![CDATA[ SEMA 2007: Toyota Corolla XRS for 2009 ]]> From the bolt up a TRD supercharger department comes the 2009 Toyota Corolla XRS in blue. The new Corolla will be available in everything from the standard volume leader to the XRS shown here. The XRS packs the 158 horsepower version of the 2.4 liter engine under the hood with choice of five-speed manual or sequential shift automatic. And even though we prefer our Toyotas older with rear wheel drive, we're sure some enterprising individual will soon figure out how to graft the all-wheel drive Matrix and Corolla sequential transmissions together with a turbo the size of a watermelon in a base Corolla.

Toyota unveils all-new, 10th generation 2009 Corolla at 2007 SEMA Show

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 31 /CNW/ - The all-new 10th generation Toyota Corolla was
unveiled at a press conference today during the 2007 Specialty Equipment
Market Association (SEMA) Show.
Originally launched in Japan in 1966, the Corolla first arrived in North
America in 1968 to instant success. For nearly four decades, Corolla has been
synonymous with Toyota quality, style and value. Since 1988, the ever-popular
Corolla has been manufactured right here at home at the Toyota Motor
Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) facilities in Cambridge, Ontario. To date, over 2
million Corollas have since been built at TMMC, while more than 1 million have
been sold in Canada.
"Almost 20 years after the first Corolla rolled off the line at TMMC, the
