Get ready for more post titles that end with "in Frankfurt," since tis the season for global automakers to let fly with the teasers. Renault, for example, released images of a new, up-market crossover SUV it's planning to unveil. Dubbed the Egeus, the concept will offer a first look at Renault's upcoming foray into the midsized SUV arena, which will likely share the Nissan Alliance C platform with the Megane, and use 4x4 mechanicals from the European Nissan X-Trail. Under the hood is a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which generates 247bhp and a piano-pushing 406 lb ft of torque, and includes a particulate filter to keep a considerable amount diesel junk from the atmosphere. A seven-speed automatic (with paddleshifters) and friction-reducing Michelins also provide fuel economy benefits. The Egeus will likely have more than a few parts in common with Renault's forthcoming Qashqai 4x4, the concept of which was shown in Geneva in 2004. [Update: New photos!]
