Holy Crap, Someone Walked Away From This Audi A4
When a driver walks away from a car looking like it's been turned inside out, you have to take comfort in driving the same car. I look at my own A4 with renewed respect after seeing this one, which was run over by a semi and managed to deliver it's driver from the valley of the shadow of death with some bruises and a cracked collar bone. 2010 Audi S4 To Reveal New Supercharged V6
It looks like Audi's got a V6 planned for the next generation of the S4. Yes, if Car und Driver's sources are correct, the 2010 Audi S4 will get an all-new forced-induction 3.0-liter V6 — potentially wearing the designation of 3.0T — under the hood. The big buff book believes this new supercharged V6 will generate somewhere close to the 340 horses found in the soon-to-be-late S4's 4.2-liter V8. If the strategy works, the manny-tranny S4's fuel economy would see a boost of 20%. What's that you say? You don't want a V6?

2009 Audi A4 Avant Breaks Cover Before Geneva, Stores Broken Cover In Sexy Wagon
As if the 2009 Audi A4 isn't sexy enough, the lines have been stretched to wagon proportions for the 2009 Audi A4 Avant. It's a good option for someone who wants the style of an A4 but needs the utility of a wagon (and yes, they're bold enough to call it a "wagon" in the press release). Though storage isn't of minivan proportions, there's a total of 51 cubic feet of storage and 60/40 split-fold seats with a load-through hatch for storing skis and snowboards. Similar to the A4, the European version gets two gas and two diesel engines. The most powerful available gasoline engine is the 3.2 FSI V6, which provides 265 horsepower and 243 lb.-ft. of torque good for a 0-62 mph in 6.4 seconds and a limited top speed of 155 mph. The 3.0 TDI engine boasts torque of 369 lb.-ft., which helps the wagon scoot to 62 mph in 6.3 seconds. Photos and a press release below the jump. More » -

While we knew the Audi Audi RS6 Avant was coming, we had no idea Bryan Adams was going to belt out an acoustic rendition of Run to You after the cover was pulled on the V10 twin-turbo wagon. As the rest of the presentation was in German the details are still hazy. We do know the world needs more hopped up sportwagons now more than ever. An A4 and A8 were also kicking around coverless. Report: Next Audi RS4 Coming in 2008
Todd Lassa's shrill condemnations of the blogosphere notwithstanding, Motor Trend clarifies the Audi RS4 issue with some of that snappy jernelism we expect from those who still use the telephone. Those saddened by talk the RS version of the Audi A4 was going the way of Brock Yates's Park Avenue office will be heartened to hear it's just taking a yearlong hiatus. With the new A4 appearing this fall atop Audi's oft ballyhooed modular architecture, the current RS4 will be shelved. A new RS4, based on the updated A4 and sporting what could total 450 horsepower, will appear at the end of 2008. Meanwhile, Audi's spending down the remaining parts on the limited-edition RS4 convertible, due by year's end. Only 300 of the droptops will be built, each costing around 90 grand each. Spec'ing the 2009 Audi A4
It's more than three months before the Frankfurt motor show opens, just a few streets off Hamburger Alley (sorry, Allee), and the spec artists are in effect. Audi recently confirmed Frankfurt is the place where all will be revealed of the 2009 A4. That car will share Audi's new jack-of-all-trades Modular Longitudinal Platform (MLP) with the A5 coupé, next-gen A6 and A8 models, and upcoming newbies like the Q5 SUV and low-roof A7. Car P-shopper Matt Daniels took the latest info on the coming A4 and rendered a few spec shots. We're not sure we'd agree on the level of multisurface detail (a bit too last-gen Bangle), but they're not too shabby as a baseline before we get them in late '08. More » -

Psycho Audi Tuner Coming to Essen Show
German VWMoCo tuner, Alfons Hohenester, is bringing what he says is the world's fastest Audi A4, the Hohenester HS650 Nardo, to the Essen show next month. Just last month, the twin-turbo sedan hit 216 mph on the Nardo track, with a score of lab-coated calculations monkeys in attendance to testify on its behalf. The culprit is a 650 hp (531 lb-ft) three-liter V6, which propels the A from zero to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds. On the surface, the A4 might look like just another "premium midsize" sedan in a sea of not-BMWs. As car reviews go, this one's a challenge because, while the A4 is not the best in its class, it's none so horrible as to be dismissed from consideration. But before we condemn the A4 with faint praise, we'll come out and say it. This is a damn fine automobile. Moreover, in a world where an A3 3.2 with Quattro and DSG costs $37 grand, a top-of-the-line A4 3.2 Quattro for $40,000 somehow seems like a value.

Audi Spy Photo Day At The Car Connection
Those spy photo loving fellas at The Car Connection have some shots (altered?) of the new Q5 small SUV in mule form as well as the 2008 A4. The A4 might not look very different in the face but this should feature all new underpinnings. It's shorter than the current model and the version that was spied had four tailpipes hinting at a performance version. As for the Q5, cropped in teaser form here, it looks to be yet another way for Audi to confuse buyers between an Allroad, Sportjet, Q7 and all those Avants. More » -

Audi TT Gets Fashionable Unveiling in New York
Audi's getting all the New York auto show this week — unveiling its 2008 TT and introducing its 2007 A4 and S4 cabrios to the Norteamericanos on Wednesday, April 12. The theme will be fashion and design, with a runway show by New York fashion designer Doo.Ri Chung — featuring supermodel Tajana Patitz — during the press conference, which will lead into the TT's introduction. B&B Tunes the Audi A4 2.0 TFSI
In these uncertain times of less-than cheap gasoline, it's good to know someone can still pull 350hp out of a 2.0-liter four. It's an Audi TFSI, to be specific, and the someone is VW & Audi tuning shop B&B. That level of performance is the most extensive of five tuning levels and includes a completely new, modified engine with track-ready pistons, connecting rods, cylinder head and a "large" turbocharger, as well as intercooling and injection mods. Buyers can also choose from a performance exhaust system, 18 and 19 wheels, 4- and 6-piston brake systems, a short-throw shift kit, and a seven-piece body kit. B&B Tunes the TDI Audi A4 Cabriolet
Used to be that tuning houses wouldn't look sideways at a diesel engine. Now, with Europe's diesel boom in its, oh, zillionth year, yet another tuner diesel is hitting the 'bahn — B&B Automobiltechnik's Audi A4 Cabriolet. With the 3.0-liter TDI as a starting point, the company installs a turbocharger with a custom air-induction system and hot-rodded ECU software to tweak a 70hp boost to 300 hp and 442 ft.-lbs of torque out of the oil-burning drop top. The enhancements included in this top performance level only cut zero-to-62 times from 7.3 seconds to 6.2 seconds, but boost top speed from 150 mph to 163 mph. The downside is the $7200 price tag (and Europe-only spec). (Not that it could run on our sulfur-rich diesel anyway.) More » -

Audi Unveils New A4 Cabrio for Europe
Over the weekend, Audi released the first official shots of its 2006 A4 Cabriolet, the final variant of the redesigned A4 to be revealed. As with the other A4s, the most distinctive styling difference between the new model and the previous cabrio may be that divisive floor-to-ceiling grille, but it's otherwise gotten the same degree of reengineering as its siblings.
