GM will recall 38,400 2008 and 2009 Pontiac G8s in response to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concern regarding the front passenger air bag modules.
The NHTSA said yesterday the air-bag modules may not be in compliance with federal standards for head injury protection because of a possible delay in airbag deployment at the time of a crash.
GM plans to reprogram the sensing and diagnostic control for the airbag to solve this issue. So far no injuries have been reported as a result of this malfunction, so G8 owners can hoon in peace until they can get their cars into the dealers.
