You fine readers recently said that Honda UK's famous "Cog" ad ranked among the most viral ads of all time. I don't know if this one is quite as viral, but it's every bit as inspired.

Honda's new "Hands" shows off the brand's 65-year history in a rather clever way. It shows a pair of hands in front of a blank canvass that work to assemble some of their most interesting products, from small engines and motorcycles all the way up to the HondaJet.

Along the way, there's the CVCC Civic, their racing bikes, the NSX, the Civic Type R (which is apparently capable of smoky RWD donuts), the CR-V, and Asimo, as well as the little robot's fridge-on-legs predecessor. I would have tossed in the McLaren Honda F1 cars too, but that's just me.

I think my favorite part is when he squeezes a glass of water out of the hydrogen FCX Clarity. Call the car fairy dust if you want, but that's quite funny.

I'll hold off on making too many obligatory comments about how the current Honda isn't exciting as it once was. But maybe if the people in charge of that company pay attention to stuff like this, they can get back to where they used to be.

What did you think of the ad?
