Sure, convertibles get no respect, but German tuner Brabus — home of the twin-turbo V12 — has nonetheless transformed the bougie E-Class Cabriolet into an 800-hp desert blaster. Respect comes at a price, though. Here, it costs $680,000. More »

A shopping excursion for Prada goodies ended in a five-story plunge from a parking garage in a Brabus-tuned Mercedes-Benz ML. This twin-turbo Brabus E V12 uses 800 HP, 1047 Lb-Ft and 230 MPH to justify a wild bodykit, faired rear wheels and a clear hood. We bet it'd kick a CTS-V's ass around Laguna. More »

The Cold War may be over but the ongoing battle between Mercedes-tuning shops BRABUS and RENNtech continues to heat up. We've all seen this war of HP — BRABUS releases photos of their 530 HP AMG C63. Later that day RENNtech releases their tuned 548 HP AMG C63. Next, RENNtech tunes an SLR McLaren and throws in track time. Later in the week, BRABUS tunes their SLR McLaren and throws in a tuned Smart. But it was after RENNtech tuned a GLK hybrid last week when BRABUS deigned it necessary to create a "photon torpedo gap" between the two shops — releasing a tuned Tesla Roadster earlier today on the waves of spaceship-like sounds and LED lights. Not willing to let such a gap continue, our sources tell us RENNtech's upped the ante into a new galaxy with a mysterious "warp speed" feature. Hit the jump to hear what they had to say. <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5086119/exclusive-details-leak-on-warp-optioned-renntech-mercedes-sl65" title="Click here to read more about Exclusive: Details Leak On "Warp" Optioned RENNtech Mercedes SL65">More »

Smart USA will begin selling a Smart fortwo BRABUS model beginning in February according to an email sent to customers yesterday. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting the BRABUS performance tweaks — which take the 70 HP engine up to a staggering 98 HP and reduce the 0-60 time from 13 to 9.9 seconds — instead, the US is just getting the BRABUS bodykit and wheels. If you've been waiting patiently for Brabus to "open the door to a new dimension for the latest Mercedes S-Class sedan and the CL-Class coupe" by dropping their own 22" wheels into the sparsely populated big-wheels aftermarket, today is a day for rejoicing. Not only have they unveiled the BRABUS Monoblock VI, Monoblock S, and Monoblock E wheels, they've blessed the world with new front fenders with a carbon fiber fender vent and built in LED lights. Sweet sassy molassy! Where's the nearest Mercedes dealer? We must rush out and buy an S-Class just so we can drop these tasteful and understated upgrades onto it! Press release complete with not-at-all-trite "size does matter" reference after the jump. More »

The 2009 Mercedes GLK is following the lead of its Sex & The City: The Movie co-stars by getting a bit of "aftermarket" enhancement, but this time it's from BRABUS and not Dr. Brabinstein. The new Mercedes compact SUV will be getting a power boost of 48HP for the line-topping 320 CDI and 15 HP for the gas-powered V6 GLK 350. BRABUS is also offering the usual assortment of upgrades including a slightly lower stance, larger wheels (21-inch, the largest they can reasonably fit), LED foglights and all manner of visual tweaks. Oh, and there are specially designed seats with incorporated DVD player/LCD screens... for speed! No word on price, but you probably don't want to know. It's Mercedes C63 AMG tuning season around these parts, as we now bring you the Brabus B63 S to complement yesterday's RENNtech version. So what hath the Brabus folks wrought? It's not quite RENNtech output, but by adding free-flow catalytic converters, high-flow air filters and tweaking the ECU with new ignition and injection maps, Brabus bumps the 6.2-liter V8 from 457 HP to 530 HP, sends torque from 442 to 479 lb-ft and gives you enough to propel the newly tuned beast to a top speed of 197 MPH. Should you need more, Brabus also offers a selection of fine limited slip differentials to satisfy the most discerning tuning connoisseur; match one up with a similarly varied selection of multi-piston brake upgrades to achieve your desired level of "whoa." Full release after the jump. More »

The fanboys over at Autogespot were awfully excited to spot this Brabus SLR McLaren Roadster in London; apparently, it's the first of its kind. Power is up from 626 to 650 HP, dropping the 0-62 mph time to 3.6 seconds and raising the top speed to 209 mph. While we're not that impressed by the limited performance boost, we're relieved to see that the owner had enough taste to keep the standard propeller-like 19-inch rims instead of opting for the 20-inch Brabus Monoblocks. We also find the white paint paired with the red top and interior strangely alluring, somehow lending the SLR's bulbous, awkward body a touch of class. More »

No, that's not Darth Vader. Nope, it's the Brabus Bullit Black Arrow and trust us, it's got more in common with Vader than the Mustang variant with the same name. We showed you the new Brabus-built C-Class first back at the Frankfurt Auto Show a couple months ago, but now the Deutsch tuners of all things Daimler have just revealed that their newest Übermensch-motored Mercedes is now available for purchase in an orgasm of Bruce (don't believe us? Check the press release out yourself). If you remember, the Bullit Black Arrow gets a SV12 S Biturbo twelve-cylinder engine dropped into the engine bay to replace the normal highest-end 6.2-liter V8 engine from the C-Class. That newer, faster, stronger engine gives the Bullit Black Arrow 720 HP (SAE net) and an astonishing 974 lb-ft of torque — and 0-to-186 mph in 24.5 seconds. Oh but wait, we're talking a top speed of 225 MPH. Sounds to us like some automaker wants to make sure that the 556 HP 2009 Cadillac CTS-V doesn't take all the glory from the four-door race for the highest-speed four-door sedan. Is there anything that the whacky tuners at BRABUS won't put a V12 into? Our favorite has to be the BRABUS Bullit Black Arrow which is V12 + C-Class + matte black paint. Though, we also love the SLR McLaren + Smart Car combo. And who can forget the S V12 S-equipped Brabus Maybach 57, which hit 205 mph at Nardo? By comparison, tweaking the already V12-equipped Mercedes-Benz SL seems like a no brainer. More »

BRABUS introduced the wicked Brabus Bullit V12-powered C-Class sleeper at Frankfurt last year and, not wanting to let floor space go to waste, has introduced the follow up Black Arrow. Like the previous Bullit, the sedan still sports the 6.3-Liter V12 Biturbo engine good for 720 horsepower and 974 ft.-lbs. of torque (though limited to just 811 ft.-lbs. to keep the car in one piece). It'll still jog to 62 mph in just 3.9 second. And it still has a top speed of 224 mph. The difference? It's freaking matte black. Matte black is the new black, or something. Either way, for just $530,000 you could have the matte blackest Benz on the block. Press release and more pics below. More »

BRABUS got us thinking about pairs with their SLR McLaren and Smart package deal. How great would it be to get vehicles custom matched to fill various needs in your life? Even better, what about cars matched to fulfill your various automotive desires? One of our favorite actual pairings has to be the Bluebird RV with matching Mercedes SLK (now that's a bail out vehicle). It's not something automakers or tuners do very often, given the implicit cost. I think our ideal combination would be the Unimog-based Unicat paired with a roof-mounted Rinspeed Bedouin. But that's us. More »

Like Turner and Hootch, Tango and Cash, Gary Busey and a bottle of scotch, Mercedes-tuner BRABUS has put together a winning pair for the Geneva Motor Show. This time it's a Mercedes SLR McLaren and a Smart Fortwo. The SLR McLaren gets a new white carbon fiber bodykit, 20-inch alloy wheels, special interior and an upgrade to the 5.5 Liter supercharged V8 that boots power to 650 hp and helps propel the roadster to a top speed of 211 mph. The matching Smart becomes the ULTIMATE 112, referring to the increase in power to 112 horsepower at 5,600 rpm. The Smart also gets a matching exterior treatment along with the lipstick-red BRABUS Mastik letaher interior and black Alcantara touches. Though sold separately, we think they're a steal when purchased for the package price of $1,062,000. Does your BLUETEC E-Class Benz not give you quite the power you were hoping for? Does 400 lb.-ft. of torque leave you cold inside? BRABUS, tuner of all things Mercedes, might have an answer to your uniquely affluent problems. A new upgrade from BRABUS boosts power by 47 horsepower and about 50 lb.-ft. of torque, to 258 and 450, respectively. Besides a lot of power for just over $2,500 (body kit extra), the new modification also meets EURO V emissions standards and is backed by a three year/62,000 mile warranty. The company also offers an E 320 BLUETEC kit for oil-burning yanks. Not known for subtlety, the boys and girls at Brabus have taken the standard GL-Class Mercedes Benz, which was already a decently mean looking ride, and have touched it up in a way that reminds us why the French built the Maginot Line. The first thing you notice is the giganto-style aesthetic, which includes wider finder flares, a new front apron with angry air inlets and three-piece, 23-in wheels. In GL 500 form, the modified beast gets 456 hp with 454 lb-ft of torque, good enough for a 0-62 mph sprint in just 6.0 seconds and a top speed of 158 mph. What country would you use it to take over? There's a record for everything, though not every one gets equal weight among the record watchers. Take, for example, the title of Fastest and Most Exclusive Luxury Sedan. Show up at the Guinness doorstep with that belt, and they'll send you packing along with the guy sporting the world's largest buttocks-region carbuncle. Nonetheless, Mercedes tuning shop Brabus is still proud of its latest Maybach tweaker, a 57 that hit 205.2 mph on Italy's Nardo test track this week. Under the long, Maybachian bonnet is the same 730-horsepower 6.3-liter biturbo powerplant developed for the Brabus Rocket Mercedes CLS, which hit 227 mph on Nardo a year ago this month. What's more, adrenalin-addicted plutocrats can be transported to the M&A negotiations in style, swaddled in an interior of lambs' wool, Alcantara and an organic polymer made from a blend of Lemur penis and the downy fluff of newborn oven-stuffer roasters. Or something. More »

There are a few key points you need to know about this monster. The bored-out 6.3-liter twin-turbo V12 produces 720 hp and 974 lb-ft of torque. That's 52 torques more than a Veyron. However, the twist is electronically limited to 811 lb-ft. Presumably so as to not blow up the rear end/tranny. Still, this is enough grunt for the uber-sedan to hit 124 mph in less than 10.5 seconds. Top speed? Is 224 mph fast enough? The front brakes feature 12-piston calipers clamping 15" disks. And finally, as far as we can tell, this baddest ever Brabus has absolutely nothing to do with Steve McQueen. Though we have a hunch he'd dig it. Release after jump. <a href="http://jalopnik.com/299679/frankfurt-auto-show-brabus-bullit-v12-c+class" title="Click here to read more about Frankfurt Auto Show: Brabus "Bullit" V12 C-Class">More »

Shrinking the t-top Pontiac Firebird concept down to a road hugging turbo minicar is the Brabus Smart Fortwo Cabrio. Touted as a true city sports car by the Smarts, the diminutive urban block carver features a searing orange paint job and cabrio top that folds away in seconds. The rest of the roof stows away in a back drawer. The 110 horsepower turbo mill delivers max torque of 111 foot pounds of torque when kept in 2800 to 4200 rpm range by the Brabus sport steering wheel mounted paddle shifter. The spokesmodels had no comment on if a miniature screaming chicken decal would become available. Press release after the jump. More »

While Steve McQueen probably drove a 1968 300SEL 6.3, he'd probably have some use for the latest Brabus Merc. It's the Bullit C-Class, a Q-ship with 730 horsepower and enough torque to turn the autobahn into world's largest ball of concrete. In typically arse-over-tit fashion, Brabus shoehorned the tuned, 6.3-liter SV12 S Biturbo V12 from its Brabus Rocket into a new C-Class sedan. The result is 974 lb-ft of runaway-train force (downmeasured to 811 lb-ft, so not to blow the tranny), resulting in a zero-62-mph time of 3.9 seconds, a zero-to-186 time of 24.5 seconds and a top speed of 224 mph. All that thrust is transferred to the wheels by way of a tweaked five-speed autobox, while gigantic 12-piston calipers stop the insanity. We'll see the monster merc up close at the Frankfurt Messe this week. In just a shade over a week we're heading off to the land of apple wine, thai food and cars that run on a strange concoction called "diesel." We're not quite sure what this odd, smelly substance is, but some say it's made from prunes, horse lard and the milk of a forgotten mammal elders say looked like Ernest Borgnine. There, in Frankfurt, many cars use this substance for fuel, and some even go fast. That is the aim of Mercedes tuner Brabus, which announced a new chip (sorry, auxiliary control unit with integrated injector drive module) that boosts power of the Merc 220 CDI from 168 hp to 217 hp. Perhaps more important, it extends torque from 295 lb-ft to a bulldozing 354 lb-ft. The dealer-installed D3 S kit also reduces zero-to-60 time from 8.8 seconds to a 7.8 seconds, comparable with, say, a 1985 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. We can't wait to hear more about this. More »

The candles on its cake will likely be shaped like cams, but the present will be unwrapped at the Frankfurt show. Mercedes tuner Brabus says it'll celebrate 30 years of messing with Mercedes models, rolling out what it's calling an automotive "wolf in sheep's clothing" at the Frankfurt auto show this September. A sleeper Merc with a volcano under the hood? We're guessing it's some kind of 700-hp C-Class with enough torque to pull the USS Nimitz into dry dock. More »

If going for the production car land speed record isn't your cup of chai skim latte, there's no need to go for the Brabus Rocket. The Mercedes tuning haus also offers a more sedate build of the AMG CLS63. That is, the S63, which boasts a tuning kit affecting a power boost from 507 hp to to 550 hp and torque from 465 to 479 lb-ft. The exercise involves ECU reprogramming, with a free-flow air filter thrown in for good measure, and results in a slight improvement to its zero-to-60 time (4.3 seconds compared to a stock 4.5 seconds). But gone is the 155 mph limiter, in favor of a 205 mph top speed. The kit will fit on any AMG product with the 6.2-liter V8. It's also Euro IV compliant, you greenie, you. – Mike Spinelli More »

The engineers at Brabus, whom we hear laugh maniacally while performing outlandish feats of speed in overclocked Mercedes iron, have turned their attention to the Mercedes CL-Class. The result is the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo Coupe, a 730-hp sleeper with a top speed of 211 mph and enough torque, at 973 lb-ft, to turn the Loisach River back toward the Bavaria Alps. They've done it at drill point, increasing displacement of the CL's 5.5-liter V12 to 6.3 liters. Other mods include larger turbos, higher-capacity intercooler, performance exhaust, and an ECU that manages to keep the new kit Euro IV emissions compliant. The German tuners of all things from the 'merican side of DaimlerDouche market have taken it upon themselves to tune the killer of Pig and Bear for the Euro market. Specifically, they've made the Caliber CRD a bit more precise with an "aerodynamic-enhancement program" and some engine tunage. The aero-precision starts with some visual upgrades to the front fascia and a reduction in lift on the front axle and extends along the sides with body cladding that gives the Caliber a lower to the ground look. The body program ends in the rear with a more "bullish contour" over the entirety of the butt-end. On the performance side, they've added in the Startech-exclusive sport exhaust system along with power tuning that ups the output by 40 hp to 180 hp via a plug-and-play control module. All in all, it's still a Dodge Caliber — but hey, a much more precisely tuned one. Those can't-leave-well-enough-alone types at Brabus are introducing their tuning package for the Mercedes C-Class concurrently with the redesigned entry-Merc's launch. Performance wise, the Brabus C is in the hottish range. The company's tweaked 332 hp out of the Mercedes 3.5-liter V6, mainly by way of an overbore to 4.0 liters and the addition performance crankshaft, stainless-steel exhaust and remapping of the engine computer. Torque is increased to 310 ft-lbs and top speed to 171 mph. Brabus also offers new line of wheels from 17" to 20", an aero kit, interior accouterments and other kitting. We'll see the new Brabus baby Benz at the Frankfurt show, in between bites of Handk

s' mit Musik passed around on silber platters. We love that show. – Mike Spinelli More »

Egad! Ok, that's the last time we use that joke in a post about German engineering and design firm EDAG, and only because it was a request. But the Mercedes GL-based LUV the company's devised is no laughing matter. It takes itself very seriously, what with Brabus-tuned motor and more teak than in a thousand Scandinavian-designed bookshelves owned by bachelors named D

rk. The teak is a reference to expensive yachts, which informed the coachbuilt truck's design theme. A Honda Ridgeline appears to have been involved in some capacity as well. – Mike Spinelli More »

Brabus will show off its latest Smart tuners, based on the new generation Smart Fortwo models, at the Geneva show next month. Of course, us Yanks wont be graced with the Mercedes tweak shop's latest, but Europeans will get every single one of the 98 hp and 103 foot pounds Brabus is offering. And that's enough to bring the diminutive pod cars to 62 mph in under 10 seconds. Don't laugh, the stock model measures that figure in miles per hour Kelvin. They also get sports exhausts and a firmer suspension tune, as well as Brabus alloys. The company's Xclusive model comes with a a body kit, heated leather seats and other interior accouterments. Expect pricing by mid year. – Mike Spinelli More »

Must be why the Chrysler-tuning side of BRABUS decided to go underground to seek the next vehicle to Startech-stamp. Because oh look, they came up with the tunneling lack-o-cute, the Dodge Nitro. And really, you just know it's gonna be a killer tune job when the second paragraph of the press release touts the vehicle's new hotness as being "a more homogeneous transition between front and rear wheel houses." Nothing says cool to us like homogeneity. But hey, at the very least they've boosted the diesel version of the next Jeep Liberty from the stock power output of 140 hp to a SD3 performance kit boost-enabled 180 hp. Torque output pops up a similar percent increase — but still only hits 266 lb-ft. Not bad, but we'd rather take the 420 out for a torque-y spin instead. Full gallery below and the release is after the jump. – Ray Wert More »

True, the 420 models are common-rail turbodiesel MB products we can't get in the states. However, with the Detroit introduction of Audi's stump-yanking yet chicky micky Q7 V12 TDI we're betting we'll be seeing these urea scrubbed toughies sooner than later. Which means that Brabus has got a tuning kit for us. It is called the PowerXtra D8 (III) and not only will it Bruce-up the GL and ML with full Brabus bodywork, but will in fact fit any Euro 4 Mercedes diesel. If there is one thing we've learned, it's that 516lbs. ft. of torque sucks. Yes sir, we need 590 pounds of twist per foot like Paula Abdul needs an intervention. The GL450 is already our favorite wide-body SUV with it's politically incorrect petrol unit. We're grinning and nodding just imagining the thrill of an 800Nm oil-burner underfoot (even if it would put out more than 307g/km of C02). And yes, for those wondering, 800Nm equals about 590lbs. ft of torque. And no, we don't like the metric system either. – Jonny Lieberman More »
