By far, powering cars from bananas has to be the coolest way to go green. An Australian company, Growcom, is polishing off final plans to build a plant that makes biomethane, a natural gas, out of banana waste. To scatologically oversimplify the process, the plant essentially eats banana waste and poops out biomethane.

The biomethane pooping process starts with an anaerobic digester that eats up all of the banana waste. Ultimately, this process yields enough methane to fulfill vehicle fueling needs.
