Drawbridges were, at one time, new technology. We're way past that now. What we need is mecha able to transform from city-defending robots into bridges, as envisioned by this sculpture — appropriately from Pittsburgh, a.k.a. the "City of Bridges."

The piece, designed by Glenn Kaino, looks like a modern version of the Roberto Clemente bridge just down the street. The piece's called "ARCH" in a clear homage to the Transformers, of which this could easily be a new character. Our only question — would you drive across a robotic bridge?
