As Francis Bacon said, "The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery." (Mmmm, bacon.) As such, petrolheads in the UK are none too pleased with sculptor Anthony Wilson, who forms his own mysterious works from pieces of classic cars. Take, for example, "Aztec Scorpion" (pictured), one of his latest, which depicts our neighbor Mrs. Henley explaining the plight of her trampled forsythias in great detail to the postman. (We didn't even know she'd been to Heytesbury.) In this case, Wilson used the front of an old Mini Cooper, a car that's said to possess strange powers — such as being able to travel great distances, despite having no room for passengers — to enhance the mystery. More »
