Americans can't buy many cars that weigh less than a ton and we can't buy many diesels that weigh less than three. But a British company called Zytek is producing a diesel hybrid Smart ForFour that weighs about 2,000lbs. Of more interest is the fact that the engine only puts out 85g/km of C02, which is lower than Britain's Ultra Low Carbon Car Challenge of 100g/km. Looks like Zytek might be 10 million pounds richer. The smart Smart gets 88 miles to the gallon, too.
