The Hennessey Venom GT, if you haven't heard, is fast. It's an extended Lotus Elise with a twin-turbocharged GM V8 stuffed in the middle. It has 1,244 horsepower to and weighs a mere 2,743 pounds. We like to bandy about words like "crazy" and "insane" here, but with this car, we really mean it.
Just ask Evo writer Richard Meaden, who recently took a trip to Texas to sample the beast. He was kind enough to record his visit to Hennessey Performance on video, and John Hennessey gives him a tour of their garage and shows how their cars are built.
But that's just salad dressing. Then we get down to the meat and potatoes: a test of the Venom GT that leaves Meaden speechless at times. Its performance can best be summed up by his sentiments after opening it up on a straight for the first time. Remember, this thing is the fastest car to 186 MPH in the world.
"HOLY FUCK. Jeeeeesus... I don't really know what to say after that. That is such an angry car."
You know what they say — everything's bigger in Texas.
