Someone Crashes The World’s Highest Mileage Lamborghini Murcielago

Losing a daily driver is a lot like losing an old friend. That's why we're sad to report that the world's highest-mileage Lamborghini Murcielago has been totaled after a high speed crash with 258,098 miles on the odometer — an higher even mileage than Richard Jordan's Lamborghini Gallardo before it was destroyed.

It's a painful wreck, but in one way the crash is also cause for celebration.

The Murci is familiar to any regular reader of EVO Magazine. This particular car is a 2004 model bought new by Simon George, the owner of a track day rental car service called 6th Gear Experience. You can pay to drive around the track in their Astons, Porsches, a Ferrari 599, a 458, an R8, a second-gen Focus RS, an Ariel Atom and two Murcielagos, reports Auto Neurotic Fixation. One of the Murcis is a white LP640 and the other is this Murci, which has also served as George's daily driver since he got the thing.

That's how the car has racked up more miles than your neighbor's Camry and that's also how the car ended up totaled. George described the incident in a recent issue of EVO:

Exiting a chicane the back end stepped out, the traction control couldn't save it and neither could the instructor. The front offside of the car impacted heavily with the only tree within 100 metres. Informed of the incident, I shot out to the scene and, after establishing there were thankfully no serious injuries, it was a good few minutes before I lifted my head from my hands

The car has a warped roof and a bent chassis.

While it's awful to see the car wrecked, we can't help but be proud that it has racked up so many miles, most of which have been on the track. That kind of mileage makes a crash like this practically inevitable.

George plans on rebuilding the car, something he is no stranger to. The car has had two transmission rebuilds and two engine rebuilds, and had just undergone a roughly $47,000 service and refresh days before the crash.
