Two impatient and very stubborn train conductors were leaving the Gloversville, NY Station at the same time. They raced each other. It didn't turn out well.
The picture comes from William Middleton's The Interurban Era, which is fully available online. The caption to this image reads, "Two Fonda, Johnstown, & Gloversville cars suffered embarrassment after unsuccessfully contesting track space in the Gloversvill (N.Y.) yard. William R. Gordon Collection."
So there you go. Don't try to play chicken in a train, and don't drag race them, either.
