Actually, this truck is not a Raptor, it's an EcoBoost-powered Ford F-150 with a Raptor frame-and-body swap. However it came to life, it's a more economical way to get your Raptor on without sacrificing power and torque. And Ford doesn't even build it.

With all this Detroit Auto Show stuff lately, you might think FoMoCo had reconsidered its decision not to offer the Raptor pickup with anything but a 6.2-liter V8. They didn't. The truck Matt Farah drives in this week's episode of Tuned is a special project by Arizona-based off-road outfitter and truck tuner Super Duty Headquarters.

In place of the Raptor's supremely thirsty 6.2-liter V8 is a far sippier, chipped EcoBoost V6. But it's no sacrifice: While Ford's standard 'boosted pickup produces 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, the SDHQ Raptor puts down around 410 hp and around 500 lb-ft. Compare that to the stock Raptor's 411 / 434 and the V8 seems a little outdated and silly.

Building the EcoBoost Raptor for this past year's SEMA show was no small project β€” check out the build thread β€” but it appears to have been worth the effort. But if you just happen to be one of those trees that likes to go fast in the dirt, it's a win-win.
