Street racing is pretty fucking stupid. Going too fast on public roads is just a shitbrained thing to do, but what about street drifting, where speeds are low?

Since drifting is about just having fun and getting sideways, speed isn't the key factor. When a kid in a beater 240SX hits something while drifting, he's likely going to crunch a wheel and not much else. Most of the time, you see kids drifting in totally deserted stretches of pavement, like industrial areas on the weekends, or snowed-in parking lots.

But street drifting still can mean going too fast for the road, and it means explicitly driving your car over the limit.

Where do you draw the line with street drifting? Should everyone stick to (increasingly popular) organized, grassroots events or is a little sideways action on an empty road okay?
