Godzilla. A name that conjurers up memories of bad lip-synching, symbolic monsters, and the Nissan GT-R. It's fast. Scary fast. Slap yo' mama in the mouth fast. For 2014 (2013 JDM) they've kept the same 546 horsepower as the last year but "improved response in the mid- and upper-rpm rev range" and made some suspension tweaks to lower the 0-60 time to a why-the-fuck-would-you-buy-a-supercar 2.7 seconds.
They've also taken what they learned from last year's Nürburgring 24-hour race to lower the time around that famous course to just 7 minutes and 19.1 seconds. A lap they did in traffic. To put that in context, God himself took the form of a winged chariot and driver to tame Green Hell and only walked away with a 7:26.1 earlier this summer.
For the gear heads out there this was accomplished with high-output injectors, a redesigned relief valve for the turbocharger bypass, and an improved oil ban baffle. The suspension upgrades are even more specific with ever-so-slight adjustments to the dampers, springs, and front anti-roll bar.
You know when you're in GT5 and you keep adjusting your setup until you can shave 0.5 seconds off. That's Kazutoshi Mizuno and his team. All I can say is: Thank God they're on our side.
