Norwegian Driver Hits A Bear Trying To Avoid A Moose

Swerving to avoid hitting a moose standing in the middle of the road, a Norwegian motorist accidentally hit a bear instead, inadvertently doing a Norwegian version of Sweden's moose test.

That isn't exactly hitting a tree to avoid a squirrel or anything, but man, what are the odds?

Luckily, the driver escaped unscathed, although the same can't be said for his car. Authorities are still on the lookout for the bear, who scurried off into the woods dripping blood. Poor thing.

According to Bear Trust International, an adult brown bear can weigh as much as 860 pounds, while the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources says that a fully grown moose can tip the scales at more than 1,000 pounds.

So the bear isn't quite as heavy, but talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire. (Hat tip to Lars!)
