In the scheme of things, six seconds isn't really a lot of time. In fact, it took me more than six seconds to write that sentence.
But other times, six seconds is everything. This video from Pikes Peak shows just how much can change in that amount of time.
In this crash, the throttle stuck wide open on the 1,400 horsepower car. Driver Paul Dallenbach, who has won Pikes Peak overall three times, was not killed or even seriously injured in the crash. It's also amazing that he didn't take out a line of spectators.
This could've been a disaster.
Here's what he had to say:
Throttle suck on me, very scary.nothing left of the car.Took a flight 4 life ride but today was not my day to go.I am very sore.— Paul Dallenbach (@PaulDallenbach) August 12, 2012
Thankfully he's just sore and hopefully he returns to the track soon.
(Hat Tip to McMike!)
