The Porsche 918 plug-in hybrid super sports car packs a 570 hp 4.6-liter V8 (and two electric motors that produce another 200 hp) and gets 78 mpg, but forget all of that. It looks great. So great we're doing a story on its new paint job.

Martini Racing livery is, arguably, the most gorgeous paint scheme in existence. And now Martini and Porsche are offering an updated version for the 918.

Martini's rad colors first made their Porsche debut in 1971, when a Martini-clad 917 won the 24 Hours of LeMans. Between 1973 and 1978, Martini was an official partner of the Porsche factory team, so the booze company's sleek color scheme showed up in other momentous races.

A Martini Porsche 917 finished first overall in the 1973 Targa Florio, the last year the WSC made a stop at the famous Sicilian course. Porsche's 908, 917, 935, 936, 911 RS, and 911 RSR also wore Martini's distinctive getup in the mid-70s.

We're glad to see Martini's livery back, and are especially happy that the updated version keeps close to the original.
