German Porsche Tuner Gemballa welcomed the next innovation in ridiculously expensive and hardly necessary automotive modifications this past week with the announcement they have engineered a process which will allow customers to coat the interior or exterior of their cars with genuine diamonds.

Those who have been dying for a new way to make their shiny and expensive cars even more shiny and expensive will soon have it. As Carbuzz.com reports the company has figured out a way to grind diamonds down into small enough pieces that the rare gemstone can be applied like paint—very expensive paint.

"When GEMBALLA speaks of diamonds, we really mean it", explains CEO Andreas Schwarz "Our complex process uses genuine diamonds as its key ingredient - not metal pigments, glass fragments, or crystals."

The number of carats required to coat a car has not yet been revealed, and the company also hasn't said exactly how much it will cost to give your car a gemstone finish. We're sure it will be plenty expensive, but we imagine most people seriously entertaining the idea of covering their car with a thin layer of diamonds won't care.
