Watch A Heroic Vietnamese Cop Cling Desperately To The Windshield Of This Speeding Bus

Traffic police 2nd Lt. Nguyen Manh Phan ordered a bus driver to present his papers on Monday, in Hanoi. The driver instead tried to flee, and the traffic cop leapt onto the front of the bus, holding on for half a mile.

The Associated Press reports that the bus reached speeds of up to 31 miles per hour (50km/h). Other drivers caught the bus' escape on video, and you can hear Phan yelling "Call the police!" over the din of the traffic.

The bus driver was chased by both police and residents and pulled over after about half-a-mile. He was arrested when he came to a halt.

Even after the bus was stopped, 2nd Lt. Phan still clung to the windshield wipers, calmly standing in front of the vehicle.

The bus driver was charged with acting against public officials, which has a maximum sentence of three years in prison. Previously, he had served nearly four years in prison for a fatal traffic accident and was released in 2010.

Even with a criminal record, attempting to escape a ticket from a traffic cop who is clinging onto the front of your moving bus is unwise, to say the least.
