Fix Old, Blown-Out Car Speakers With Masking Tape

Have you ever cranked up the music in your car only to realize you just blew out your cheap factory speakers with too much bass? If you have, you know that once the speaker's blown, it sounds distorted. Thankfully, Instructables user sgtjasonshrout outlines a simple way to fix busted speakers with masking tape.

This guide works great if the foam lining that connects the speaker to the frame has cracked. To start, you have to cut out the old foam lining and then prop up the speaker so it sits where it did originally. From there, you can follow sgtjasonshrout's visual guide to layering the tape so it holds the speaker in place. It's not a pretty fix, but it's better than hearing speaker rattle.
