Ferris Bueller house + retro rally Porsche = winning life

Last year, Chicago-area builder Autowerks sold a detailed replica of the 1980 Porsche 911 Rothmans rally car for $70,000. Now they're back with a replica of the '84 911 Dakar-winning car, seen here hanging at Cameron Frye's house.

What began as a well-maintained 1989 911 Carrera 4 was transformed through a series of engine and body upgrades into a close copy of the Porsche 953 raced in the Paris-to-Dakar rally in 1984, yet still street legal and equipped with daily driving accoutrements. Given that only three of the racing 953s were ever built, this is as close as most Porsche fans can come to owning one.

Shot by photographer Jeremy Cliff, the Porsche looks right at home in the room where Cameron had his breakdown during "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Besides, who could be so neurotic if they owned a rally-ready Porsche?

You can see more of the photos from Cliff's photo shoot on his Flickr page; and if you have the money to chase a Porsche replica, it's up for grabs on eBay. Here's a teaser of the sound for the rest of us:
