The $90,000 BMW 750i xDrive stolen from the German automaker during the Detroit Auto Show was found today mostly intact — except for the cut wires where the thieves had disabled BMW's tracking system.
The car, brought into town to ferry BMW execs from one champagne-fueled party to the next, was stolen by carjackers outside the Westin Book Cadillac hotel in downtown Detroit. The car was being loaded onto a car carrier when, according to witnesses, the driver of the truck and others were distracted, allowing the thief to make off with the high-priced BMW.
The car was found located near an apartment complex on Telegraph Road in western Detroit. Police say they will examine the vehicle for evidence that could lead them to the carjackers, such as hearty peals of laughter at their chances of being caught. [WXYZ]
