Welcome to Down On The Street, where we admire old vehicles found parked on the streets of the Island That Rust Forgot: Alameda, California. How about a clean GTO that really does park on the street every day?
I've been seeing this car around town for a few years now- yes, it gets regular use- but hadn't had my camera on me when I'd seen it parked without a bunch of Explorers and Accords crowding the frame. Finally, a good photo opportunity!
This isn't exactly a rare car (58,126 GTO hardtops made for the 1969 model year, according to the Standard Catalog, or about seven times the quantity of '69 AMXs), but most examples don't get much real-world driving these days.
