This image teases the plug-in hybrid Kia Ray Concept, with such a name it'll probably be slathered in solar-electric cells and if it debuts to The Beatles "Here Comes The Sun," groans will be audible from the Chicago Auto Show.
We're guessing the Ray shares its plug-in hybrid underpinnings with the Hyundai Blue Will, which means a 1.6-liter direct-injection four-cylinder mated to an electric motor powered by a lithium polymer battery pack. Word is, these gubbins will also make their way into the 2011 Hyundai Sonata for a production plug-in hybrid with a Chevy Volt-rivaling electric only range of 40 miles.
So what of the expected solar panels? Like the 2010 Toyota Prius and its solar sunroof, we don't expect them to do much beyond possibly trickle charging the batteries a tiny, tiny amount or, more likely, cooling the interior by powering a fan.
