DOT Unveils Anti-Distracted-Driving Website, We Lose Focus During Process

In 2008, 5,870 people were killed in car crashes while eating or talking on the phone. The government wants you alive, so it recently launched the public-service site Distraction.gov. In other news OH LOOK SOMETHING SHINY

Studies show that talking or texting on a phone while driving is akin to having a blood alcohol level of 0.08%. On Monday, the Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, launched a site geared at informing the public of the dangers of distracted driving. The site is part of a national campaign that aims to reduce the number of traffic accidents caused by inattentive drivers.

There's no telling how much of a difference the government's efforts will make, but seriously, people: Hang up the phone. Stop texting. You can kill yourself all you want, but some of us don't want to die because your SMS was a bit too LOL.
