According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the previous driver of the loaner Lexus ES350 at the center of the fiery floor mat death recall also complained about the same acceleration issue, telling a dealership employee "You need to tell somebody."
It's not clear someone was told, because the car was sent out and the same problem occurred, killing a family of five. The floor mats were eventually recalled, but it doesn't look great for a company already on the hook for their questionable response to the issue. [San DIego Union-Tribune]
