The crowd-sourced Local Motors Rally Fighter has taken a big step toward completion — an official first drive under its own power. The short clip below shows the push-button start-up and a drive around the parking lot.

Though the interior is still crude, all the functional elements of the car are in place. As we can see in the brief video, the push-button starter fires the BMW 3.0-liter turbo-diesel and shifts the ZF six speed into first and away they go. Pretty neat.
