    Ford To Phase Out Crown Vic By 2011, Future Unclear

    Ford today confirmed plans to phase out production of its still-popular-after-10-years-on-one-revision police car, the Crown Victoria, in 2011, at a plant in Ontario. The future of the no-longer-unsafe-at-any-speed four door remains unclear.

    However, the Dearborn automaker declined to say today if that means the Crown Victoria police car would cease to exist afterward or confirm reports that it wants to replace the Crown Vic with a police version of the Ford Taurus. Ford recently launched a new version of the Taurus, which is built in Chicago.[Detroit News]
