KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – At a party held in Hotel Maya’s bar celebrating Jenson Button’s back-to-back Formula One victories, Jack White of The White Stripes hands the hardest button to Button.

The button is made of rhenium diboride—a synthetic super-hard material discovered in 2007—and it is harder than diamond: along certain dimensions, it scores 10+ on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness.

After handing Button the rhenium diboride button, White proceeded to perform a number of songs to Hotel Maya’s delighted patrons—including Button’s girlfriend Jessica Michibata, pictured above—among them the third single from the album Elephant:
