The Daihatsu Charade didn't sell at all well in North America, for reasons that started with the ill-considered name and snowballed from there. Back in Japan, however, the Charade had Mickey Rourke behind it.
Rourke has had his career ups and downs- amply chronicled in this New York Times Magazine piece- but he has a special place in our hearts for his portrayal of Henry Chinaski in the Bukowski-written film Barfly. I couldn't find the scene in which he rams a Fiat Spider with a rich girl's Benz SL, so here comes an L.A. alley fight instead. Yeah, the Daihutsu is one smooth machine, just like Mr. Rourke. Thanks to Maxichamp for the tip!
