Incredible: A Kaiser Darrin on eBay!

It's really amazing what turns up for sale sometimes—this ultra-rare Kaiser Darrin, just sitting in someone's garage like any other project car, is apparently being listed for some old guy by one of his friends. Fewer than 450 of these beautiful little roadsters were ever made, intended as competition for the Corvette. The Darrin was actually the first fiberglass-bodied production car, narrowly beating the '54 'Vette to market. But Kaiser was busy getting swallowed up in a complicated merger with Willys at the time, and discontinued production of the Darrin that same year. I've only ever seen one of these cars in person, while I was driving cross-country last summer, at the very strange and very worthwhile Pioneer Auto Show in South Dakota. Neat feature: the Darrin's "pocket doors," which slide back into the rear quarter panels. Check out the auction—as of now, it looks like someone might even get a deal on this rare roadster.
