Commenter Of The Day: Gotta Have Priorities Edition

So we posted a story about Bob Novak running into a guy and Benji made some pretty easy, obvious jokes about both pleading heart liberals (because the guy who stopped him was a lawyer... on a bike) and crazy heartless conservatives (because Novak ran over a dude while driving a black Corvette and kept driving) and some of you took that to be political. Some of you derided Novak as a d-bag and others thought it was cool Novak ran over someone. And, of course, this guy no one has ever heard of resigned from the site. Not sure if he's offended as a liberal or as a conservative, but have fun at LLN or wherever you land. Just to prove we have no political agenda and that overall badass auto mania always rules the Jalop, here's today's bipartisan observation by ShadowGuitar: More »

Today we're going to go from PCH Édition Débâcle to something a little closer to home: Lowrider Project Hell!

FortuneSport Rt.R and Rt.S To Weigh Less Than 2000 Pounds, Confuse US Customers

Today we received an interesting little press release in our mailbox announcing auto manufacturing newcomer FortuneSport and their intent to produce high-performance, ultra-lightweight sports cars in short order. They claim the FortuneSport Rt.R, a race spec, 515 HP V8-powered, semi-monocoque, mid-engine sports car will be on sale this fall to the tune of $200,000. By late 2010, a street version, dubbed the FortuneSport Rt.S, will be offered to the public in 350 HP trim for the price of $85,000. Both cars are also slated to come in at under 2,000 lbs. Big talk, but also very intriguing. More »

2010 Chevy Camaro: From Concept To Reality

The most striking feature of the unveil of the new Camaro was how strikingly similar the 2010 Chevy Camaro is to the Camaro Concept. We enlisted the help of GM designer Jeff Perkins, who worked extensively on the new muscle car, to help us with the magnifying glass and determine what those changes were. Hit the jump as Jeff guides us through sort of virtual walk-around, pointing out each of the individual tweaks and changes the designers made to bring the concept to production. More »

Emerson Fittipaldi To Pace 2008 Detroit Grand Prix in E85 Corvette Z06

At today's NextCruise announcement, automakers dragged out their leanest, meanest, greenest vehicles as a backdrop for the action. Of course, the fact that they were all SUVs was a bit ironic. But also on hand was a hot Corvette Z06 modified for Detroit Grand Prix pace duty and sipping E85 fuel. While no announcement was made, racing legend Emerson Fittipaldi's name is planted smack-dab on the driver's side B-pillar, making it pretty clear who's going to be at the helm during the 2008 Detroit Grand Prix.

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR

Andrew Stoy is wrong. (No, I'm not. —A.S.) The 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR makes a much better everyday car than the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. And I should know: I've only driven it in rush hour traffic.

Pagani Zonda And Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Palling Around

Derek D and the boys at Fast Lane Daily have scored an interesting pic of the next-gen Pagani Zonda buddying up with the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black for high-altitude testing in Colorado. This, of course, sets up rumors the new Zonda will have the same 6-liter V12 expected in the Blackest of SL's, instead of the anticipated V8. We're pretty sure nobody in the supercar world will complain about a frenetic 600 HP V12 making noise in the new Pagani. Check out the Fast Lane Daily video below the fold for details, and the shout-out to yesterday's shocking BMW F1 news. More »

Ego Introduces $20,000 Bentley Notebook Computer; Still Uses Vista

Ego, Dutch maker of "luxury notebooks," displayed their $20,000 Bentley laptop at the British Motor Show this week. The computer features color schemes taken directly from Bentley automobiles, and each unit is hand-built and wrapped in custom-stitched leather. Actual computing is handled by a 64-bit processor with 160GB hard drive, running Microsoft Windows Vista. Additionally, the company says the carrying handle was inspired by the door handle on Bentley cars, but a quick peek at Ego's website shows pretty much the same handle design used on all their notebooks. Oh well. For $20k they must be telling the truth. [eGMCartech]

700 HP TechArt GTstreet RS, Because The Porsche 911 GT2 Is Too Slow

Porsche tuner TechArt has created the GTstreet RS, a hardcore version of the already-insane 630 HP GTstreet. Even though the current 530 HP Porsche 911 GT2 is the fastest production 911 ever, some people just want more. So, the GTstreet RS takes a standard GT2 and applies horsepower, resulting in a 700 HP monster complete with cartoon body kit. Another obscene tuner-job Porsche? Yep, but there's no way we'd turn down a drive in one. Full details in the press release below the jump.

Robert Novak Hits Pedestrian With Corvette, Tries To Flee Scene

Boiling bile-duct of right-wing rage Robert Novak earlier today struck a pedestrian with his black C5 Corvette, then attempted to flee the scene of the accident. According to witnesses, Novak plowed into the man as he was crossing the street on a walk signal, throwing the victim across the windshield and onto the ground. Novak then proceeded to make a right turn and continue as if nothing happened. A nearby bicyclist chased the pundit down and stopped him by parking his bike in front of the 'Vette. When confronted, Novak claimed he didn't know he had hit anyone. More »

Toyota F1 Boss Says Team's Hybrid System May Not Be Ready For 2009 Season

Following the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) shock received by a BMW/Sauber mechanic earlier this week, Autosport reports Toyota may not have their KERS system ready in time for the start of the 2009 season. Toyota F1 team president John Howett expressed concern about the new technology in an interview, saying "Whether [the issues] can be overcome to a satisfactory, safe level before the first race, I can't hand-on-heart tell you." Fans, on the other hand, are expressing great interest in the electrified lithium-ion-coated exploding-battery fest that the 2009 season promises to become. More »
