We had a chance this morning to be one of the first to drive the GTbyCITROEN Concept on Gran Turismo 5: Prologue at the Paris Auto Show. The car, easily the hottest concept here at the show, was designed as a joint venture between Citroen and Polyphony Digital, the makers of Gran Turismo. We'll gladly admit we are not virtuosos of GT5, as we should be, but once we figured out what everything did, it was off to the races. By our uncalibrated estimates, the GTbyCITROEN has a tendency to understeer more than we expected, but it is fast, and it'll handle high speeds pretty well. Oh, and after we took a look inside the concept, we were interested to see that dash provides a sweet heads-up unit displaying current velocity. We totally need to get a PS3. More »

Artificially low fuel prices have subsidized an American automotive lifestyle out-of-sync with the needs and desires of serious drivers. Lord almighty these cars are bright in person. Ford went ahead and dropped the real deal Ford Fiesta on us and they went out of their way to slather then in colors the Joker would be very proud of. We're pretty excited by the idea of a compact Ford in the market again, though we don't have confirmation yet on the 5 door coming stateside yet. One thing the original (good) Focus was never faulted for was its handling, and it's something Ford has figured out which we're hoping transfers to a potentially more flickable car.

Prepare to trip balls in real life Sunday because the Mach 5 from the upcoming Speed Racer movie will be making an appearance at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. We'll be getting up close and personal with it during the press days but the public will be allowed to ogle the 5,000 horsepower, ultimate race car starting on the 19th. No word on whether Spritle and Chim-Chim will be hiding out in the trunk.
