Yesterday we shook some trees to see if anything would fall out resembling a Dodge Ram R/T or SRT-10 by tossing out wild speculation on some nondescript spy photos. We don't know if that got some gears turning, but today a brief flash of what looks to be the 2009 Ram R/T showed up in a promo video for the Rambox. So of course we took a screen capture, waved a magic anti-distortion wand over it and ta-da! A sportier, spicier Dodge Ram. Now if only we could do that wand trick with the Chrysler Sebring.

Mmmmmm beefy. Except DAMN that thing is tall! Whatever happened to trucks that could haul things but didn't need to be 27 feet tall to do it?
Oooh I get big wheels and a body color grill for only how much mark up? I'll take two! I mean two dozen!
OK, so what?!
Dodge pickups are good looking (especially the new models), but they suck when comming to performance (compared to REAL pick-up trucks)...
I'd get myself a Toyota or a Chevy instead, & with all do respect to Ford, i wont' by it coz it looks like shit with a bit of piss topping it!
@KingRoyale: Since it's a Ram shouldn't that be "Mmmmmmmmmmm muttony"?
So the 2009 Ram has been 'accidently' released? So what(!). It looks like every Dodge truck for the past ten years. It's time for Chrysler Corp. designers to come up with a really NEW trend setting look for the Dodge truck. This look is getting old(!).
Rambox? Really? Does Dodge seriously have no idea what kind of image is conjured in the mind of young American male when the words Ram and Box are put next to each other in a sentence?
Or maybe they do. Maybe that's the point. Now that I think about it, RamBox is an appropriate name for the extra large back seat option. I suppose it could help sell a couple more units to the testosterone set.
@jarque:
True indeed - good call!
i may be biased because i have owned or grew up with Dodge trucks since i was a wee kid in the 60s but i like the new RAM.
it is much cleaner than the new bloated Tundra, doesn't have saddle bags on the fenders like the new Chebbie and it isn't butt ugly like a Ford.
the Dodge looks muscular and clean with well thought out lines and what appears to be a nice interior. i'd buy a new RAM to tow our horses and do stuff around the farm should the need arise.
You guys have a magic wand?
Really, hmmm sounds like the beginning of a bad porno.
Not that I would know...
Why are domestic automakers so captivated by the mast radio antennae?

Nayrlladnar, Thats because most car designers spent a lot of time in these

2 minutes that I'm not getting back...
Wow, this is such a huge improvement, reaaly.
The posts on here today have been seriously funny--what are you guys drinking?
That is probably the best looking fullsize truck on the market now, easily better than the bland and ugly vanilla offerings from GM and Ford.
Yes, it looks excellent. Yes, it might be a bit faster than the competitors.
But I really, really hate it.
If you want to look good and go fast, you may as well start with a car that need not carry 8'x4's and has a center of gravity lower than your head.
Pick-up trucks are like slegehammers or chainsaws - objects admired for their durability, power, and utility. When's the last time you thought about buying a Nismo knife sharpener or Gucci arc welder?
@Spasticteapot: So in other words if you need to go fast and haul stuff just buy a Pontiac G8 ST?
@TriShield: hauling stuff and going fast is not a recommended combination and never "needed".
@TriShield:
Exactly!
Fast pick-ups like the R/T and Lightning give up ground clearance and ride comfort in favor of handling and speed. However, no truck will ever drive as well as a cheap little Miata, regardless of how much you spend on it.
If you're not going off-road or carrying heavy loads anyway, you may as well just start with a fast car in the first place - all you lose is a bit of aerodynamics and your rear seats.
@Spasticteapot:
I confess, I'm into fast trucks.
I like the utility and reliability of a fullsize pickup, and it's also nice to be able to tear up onramps and stoplights from time to time. I like the driving position, the looks, and the ability to haul a big pile of junk and pull a trailer too.
It's not about getting the best handling or fastest vehicle on the planet, it's about getting a lot of everything in a single vehicle thats cheap to buy, cheap to insure, and easy to maintain.
Front engine, rear drive, body-on-frame, big V8, there's a lot to like.
Honestly, about the only thing that sucks is city gas mileage, which is generally mid teens.
However, on a 116 mile trip yesterday, I managed to get 24.1mpg out of my 4200 lb V8 Silverado cruising at about 70-72.
Screw "need".
Are you the son of an Exxon executive?
... Like to race between stoplights in Houston?
... Have the need to deliver fraternity party kegs quickly?
... Have to compensate for lack of skill AND size?
This is your truck.
Ram me please.
