We've never heard of the Scandinavian speed shop Makela Auto Tuning, but we want to be their best friends. These guys are rally and exotic car aficionados of high order, and loving documentarians of their craft. As such there are over 200 images on their site of the transformation of a run of the mill Ferrari 308 GTB into a rip-snorting FIA Group IV spec rally machine. Our only question is why this package wasn't on the options list for the 308? [MAT Project Page] (Thanks Ed)

MAT are the hoons who brought forth the Cosworth-powered Model A: [jalopnik.com]
I'm not a big modern Ferrari person but that looks great. Looks mean. Channeling a bit of the Stratos looks wise.
Put me down for one.
badass! that shape never gets old.
That's Fantasy Garage material!!!
Dr. Danger's Jeans!
This receives the Tom Selleck seal of approval

Group IV option? Nope.
Group B? Hell yeah. [www.qv500.com]
@dylanseals: Second that.
Wow. One more reason to love the Finns. Thank you for the MAT link and introduction. It appears as though they've been cribbing Jalop's PCH brand of insanity with that Group 4 Rally engined Model A.
@tenbeers: I agree wholeheartedly...although I've always loved the 288's lines JUST a bit more.
Oooh, that looks cool! Can they make me a Veyronamino Rally Car? I've always wanted to veer off a gravel stage at 250 m.p.h. into a tree. Of course I could probably just go down to Jumbolair Aviation Estates and veer off tarmac in a regular Veyronamino at 250 m.p.h. into a tree, but that idea kinda lost its lustre after that whole M5 thing.
@instrumentofaction:
Ditto, the 288 is the pinnacle of the dino/308 design. Although if MAT were to convert one into a rally car, I would probably sob uncontrollably.

"Olio Fiat"? >snicker<
MAT are our new friends.
They are from Finland, and therefore insane, but good people.
The Lister-Jaguar looks so... just so.
And the sales section has Stalin's ZIL and the Shah of Iran's Ghibli.
What next?
Pol Pot's Punto?
Mao's Morgan?
Never thought I'd say this, but that cage is a thing of beauty. I love how it runs with the C pillar. The 308 has always been one of my favorite examples of the Prancing Horse, so I initially cringed to see them hacking through the roof. Nice to see an example of complete gearhead insanity other than Black Metal V8olvo.
I like it! Possibly one of the coolest 308's I've ever seen!
Scandinavians are the masters of extreme car modifications.

Radness abounds.
Is it AWD?
@OG_: [www.93x.se]
Loving that Saabamino transporter.
@LuciferV8: Audi started the whole AWD/quattro rally car thing about this time. Ferrari, Lancia, Ford and everyone else were still using rwd rally cars.
@teargas: yes, that car has danger written all over it!
Those modernized Stratos 'coffin spoke' wheels are a thing of beauty, and they look terrific on this car. This is the best looking Ferrari I've seen in a while.
Wow I completely forgot about Dahlback Racing Golf RSI and the insane VW Polo. (Check the Project and Gallery parts in a link below)

Also must see this BMW 2002

Needs more lights on the front, but other than that this is a thing of beauty. And beast.
Higgins can buy one for me to drive around Hawaii & solve obvious crimes.
Wow. That was a solid hour browsing through that art gallery they called a build process.
@MazdaEric:The most important question here is, who makes Hawaiian Nomex suits and Detroit Tigers helmets?
I've never wanted a Ferrari so bad though.
dammit, I sent this site to Wert a while back when there was all the 308 buzz around here. Guess it didn't catch his attention at the time.
Something this beautiful, amazing, and wholly epic can only be summed up, inexplicably, with Borat quotes..."very nice, how much?"
The main picture is giving me a boner.
