The mastermind behind the Gran Turismo series has proven that he can handle real cars as well as he took the 2009 Nissan GT-R for a joy ride. Not only could the game's creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, handle the famed Nurburgring track, but he did so with it wet. Yamauchi even cites his familiarity with the track from the video game to help his real life driving. I doubt Yamauchi beat the 7:29 mark on the same ring, but he manages to keep it on the slippery track. See, Mom, video games are good for something. Check out the video above for the clips of him driving and follow the link to see the entire clip that features interviews about Godzilla and more. [CarScoop]

i'm sure with all the cars that he's dealt with, and tracks they had to film, or roads that the original tracks are designed from that he's made quite a few laps in quite a few cars.
Dream job? I think so.
i wonder if the creator or super mario bros. tried a lot of mushrooms....
What's with that little gauge next to the wheel on the left that's pulsing red/white? It looks like a heart rate monitor, but I'm sure it's reading RPM, shifts, speeds...etc. Whatever it is, it looks pretty cool.
@Sloop_John_B: I assume that was G's (someone correct me if I'm wrong). That onboard computer in the GT-R was actaully designed by Polyphony Digital, the team that makes Gran Turismo.
If you have your GPS nav unit mounted to the dashboard, it's kinda like having the moving map on in GTn. Is that considered cheating?
Wait, that was almost 150mph on the autobahn, so what happened to the locked PCM w/ the governor on it? Or does it recognize it is also on the autobahn and open it up there too?
In the Beyond the Apex short included on the GT5 disk, Yamauchi talks about his current car collection. Pretty impressive stuff, including a Ford GT he said was his favorite.
Does his GT-R have no damage effects?
The little dot is missing from the map to show where your at on the track.
@Caffiend: Two Ford GT's actually... I'm assuming just to have different colors?
@WarShrike: Not the autobahn, the Nurburgring, as the article states :P
