If cruising around in your Porsche 911 in the latest installment of the Gran Turismo series lacks a certain realism, you may be ready for the officially branded Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo Racing Wheel gaming peripherals. Consisting of a wheel, shifter and pedals, the driving set is available as wireless controllers for the PlayStation 3. It includes support for force feedback and more. For all this performance, expect to pay a $350 entry fee for the privilege of using official Porsche branded racing peripherals. Unfortunately the setup won't help improve the realism of the whole "parent's basement" gaming environment. [Fanatec via SlipperyBrick]

hmm seems cheaper just to print out the logo on cardstock and tape to the Logitech wheel
Not too bad really. The Momo Logitech stuff is $100.
At least you know you're better than that other gamer riff-raff.
Well, this actually has a clutch pedal. It's rare to find a wheel with a clutch pedal, and this even has a 6+1 gear pattern on the shifter. Now, if only you could find a game that supports those features...
How much for the heated wheel?
The prototype version of this wheel that was sent out to testers had a lot of problems. They agreed that the wheel itself was better than the Logitech G25, but they had driver issues (not the person driving) and the pedal assembly sucked on all counts. All the testers agreed that the significant flaws of the wheel outweighed any advantages it held over the G25.
Considering that this unit is $100 more than the street price on a G25, I don't think Logitech will be losing a lot of sales since Fanatec didn't reinvent the wheel.
Look for the G25 replacement to come next year with the release of the full GT5.
Good luck using this wheel to steer your 911 around the track in GranTurismo 5 - there aren't any Porsches in the game. Guess you could use it in Forza 2, though.
@por-shuh: I find it odd that Porsche is so finicky about licensing to a definitive game like Gran Turismo but they have no problem putting their name on a schlock peripheral from Fanatec, and giving them the wheel out of a Cayenne no less?
... I was completely wrong it's a 911 wheel. woopsie
still...what gives
Wonder if the wheel is on a gear or pulley system. Pulley is way better - the original Logitech Momo had it.
Just the thing to drive to your Wii Squash Game.
This would be perfect to drive the 911 BiTurbo 24 Hr car in GTR2. Or the 997GT3 RS-R.

@kaneshadow:
Porsche uses a similar steering wheel in the Boxster as well as the 911. The "bikini" wheel is the basic model and can be had with a slew of pushbuttons and coverings. The sport wheel has a round center and would probably have been more appropriate for the game gear.
What happens when you drive a GT-R with your Porsche wheel and pedals?
Blue screen of death?
And I thought driving a 912 would maximize "shrinkage".
For those with a taste for the vintage, pedals should be hinged from the steering column rather than the floor.
