Despite the fabulous camera phone quality of these photos, the visage of Zingerman's Roadhouse behind this 2009 Nissan GT-R is undeniable proof Godzilla is stalking the streets of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Nissan has a development facility in the area, so it's not entirely surprising to see the beast from the far east there, but nonetheless, it's the first we've seen on the road in the mitten state. The only other reason for it to be in the area we can think of is to impress all those University of Michigan engineering students. Right, students. (Thanks for the pics Skyler)

Sweet, isn't that a Hyundai XG350 in the background?
It probably belongs to one of Rich Rodriguez's new recruits. As a signing bonus.
I'm having difficulty figuring out how they could make this car uglier.
All I gotta say is drive one and you're hooked.
That's a Celica with Nissan badges.
I want one of these so bad.
I would give up Jalopnik for a year to own one, and I can't go 30 seconds without hitting refresh...
wait, a whole year? Ok, a month...
N. Maple and Jackson Rd.
That area is trying to change, but the stench of Farmer Jack's won't come out of the carpet. That and the discount theater.
I actually liked it better when its mascara was running down its face.
And that's not saying a lot.
Ahh, Zingerman'$, home of the $14 deli sandwich.
@staircar: But it's the best you can do for deli in AA.
@philibuster:
[sigh] Don't I know it.... I lived two blocks from the Kerrytown Zingerman'$, but, living on a grad school pauper's budget meant I could only afford it once in a blue moon. Besides, gotta save some pocket change for Bab's and Arbor Brewing Co!
@Pope Dearthair the Awesometh: You thinking of the other ugly, the A8?
I've been in Ann Arbor, she's not that great.
@///Mink: Wait until the Fast and The Furious crowd gets their hands on one. Then you'll regret that statement.
I...love....zingerman's. I think the last time I was in A^2 I had 4 of 6 meals there.
someone told me they saw another GT-R on woodward near 14 mile. A red one, keep your eyes peeled jalopnikers of michigan. i think we are being invaded.
Journalistic correction...
It is the University of Michigan...
Not Michigan University...
Not that I care but I am just trying to protect what journalistic cred you have left...
@Adplusone: sigh, i suppose i should make a correction. you're just lucky I didn't call it MSU.
MINK: Look in the mirror and you will see how it could be uglier.
JSmith: At least it's not as ugly as a Volvo. Those things are fugly inside - they look like a 20 year old VW.
@avanti5010: ...Well, possibly, but I still think the GT-R wins. At least I come by it naturally.
@///Mink: excellent rebuttal to a horrible "joke", well played
@///Mink:
Simple. Put Rosanne Bar behind the wheel. Problem solved, you don't need to be hatting anymore. You can go on with your life.
@avanti5010: Disagree.

There is a very obvious reason for one of these GTRs to be in Ann Arbor:
Car and Driver and Automobile Magazine are both based there. It was probably being lent to one of them, as they both have fleets of test cars all the time.
@beercheck: No, thinking of the concept car... but I'll agree, there's something just not right about the R8's face either.
dude i go to school in ann arbor. this is amazing. its hard to fathom that these awesome cars are actual here. but i have seen the challenger around here allot too. but thats prolly cause i live right next to the Chrysler proving grounds. but yeah. and zingermans road house isn't the home of the 14 dollar sandwich.... thats zingermans deli, compleaaatly different. and the most expensive sandwich is only 12 dollars....
Naw, they get up to $14, just had one yesterday:

their is actually a surprising number of sweet cars around ann arbor, the sweetest thing i had seen recently
were an original era ford falcon, a toyota camry with presicely 24 bumper stickers including "my mutt is smarter than your grad student", a yellow last gen porsche gt3, and a mk2 gti.
@69 woodie..wait for it..: Yeah, go to Barton Hills in the summer, where they put in "speed humps," which are low, two-tiered speed bumps for the low-slung, expensive vehicles.
Prowel along M-14. Chrysler's always driving their test mules out to Chelsea on that. Not that a Chrysler/Dodge is quite as exciting as a GT-R, but I did see the newest Viper RT/10 test mule.
God I miss home now that I live in NC.
@staircar:
AA Brewing is good, but I'm definitely going to miss Leopold Bros. Try Grizz some time, the beer's not that great but the food rules. Red Hawk, too.
i just busted a nut. even if the new GT-R isnt all that good looking, it still has this vibe of hotness about it.
Seriously, I don't have words for this.
Heh.
Rock.
@philibuster:
