Is that leaning to the left from hauling ASS
Inserts pic of 4cv on the Westshore Freeway.
I saw one in HB this past weekend, same color too! I should have taken a photo...
Nice find!!
Hurrah! Die Ente lebt! But, tell me, is the billboard supposed to say "Lead" (leed) or "Lead" (the metal)?
beautiful!
Was your grandma driving? That thing's eating your lunch!
"...Sacré bleu...! Zee damn TomTom...! I said Avignon, not Alameda...
Zut alors...!"
@MotownWonker: Obviously we're outsourcing our billboards to China now, also.
Correct-a-mundo. You don't see too many two-cylinder cars on any freeways here in the U.S. of Out of my Way.
That looks like a lot of fun, with the top rolled back, cruising to the next wine & cheese event. Trés Bon!
@MotownWonker: It suppose to say if you are crazy enough to be a police officer in Richmond CA, come on down.

@charles_barrett: LOL or Rire Dehors Fort!
Thats my frend Rolf driving. His Wife, anne is the Vice Predient of the SF Region CItroen Car Club
@jayway: Jalopnik is a very small and connected universe, n'est-ce pas?
that car is made of lead?
if I didn't know already, trying to find out what car Murilee was in would be a hoot. Cool beans that jayway knows the folks, though.
@slantsick: Now I understand...it's supposed to encourage us to *READ*! ^^;
And Chrysler thinks they're innovative with the roll back cloth top on the Liberty.
I once drove a Rambler 550 on the Bayshore freeway - that's got to be worth something, right? Right?
In my 2CV dreams, I was expecting two more billboards saying, "follow" and "get out of the way."
@graverobber- Same great taste, new low price!: Monsieur, that is high praise indeed coming from a talent such as yours. Je suis très amusante et très heureux for your kind words (forgive my French that has become very tarnished after 20+ years of disuse...)
There's a red CItroen in the men's section of the Nordstrom store in the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto. It's just parked there in the store between the register, the aisle, and some racks of clothes.
@slowinthefastlane: See what happens when corporate embarks on a half-baked drive-thru scheme then abandons the concept mid-stream...? I think Abercrombie & Fitch had a similar experience a few years back... half the customers were stuck in the changing rooms in nothing but their underwear...!
@way2bee:
The fact that you drove a Rambler anywhere is worth something.
Can't let my wife see this pic. I bought her a 2CV (which she had been asking for) for Valentine's Day several years ago. Before I got it off the trailer, I had it traded away for a CD-Panhard. The wife and the CD are still around, but Valentine's Day has somehow lost its luster.
Seeing as I hate those goddamned ugly bastard snail things, I'm more interested in the pseudo-cryptic billboard behind it.
Fixed one up and used it in a low-budget digital movie. A '65 American Station Wagon, and it really became one of the characters. Actors came close to buying it from the guy I borrowed it from. Ran great. Had to tighten up the bands in the transmission, though.
@charles_barrett: Muchas gracias. I just use the translation widget on my computer, so I'm posting those things with my fingers crossed. Based on your response I didn't call you a credenza.
Hey les boyz, ça c'est un vrai bijou!
Always loved quirky looking buggies from La France,
saw a pumpkin orange Fiat 500 today with a for sale sign in the window...hummm,
That second picture in particular is very soothing. I feel calm and collected.
@MotownWonker: Lead. As opposed to follow. Because you really don't want to be following this thing.
@graverobber- Same great taste, new low price!: Oh, I've been called MUCH worse than a credenza, trust me... ;-)
And I am tickled if I tickled your funny-bone with my comment. Best to you!
@junkman: as much as I love 2CVs, the CD Panhard is sooooooo much cooler.
@jayway: are you in the SF club and have you been to my father's shop? [jalopnik.com] We restored Rolf's Truckette BTW. He's loaned us 2 wheels and tires for my 2CV chassis based teardrop trailer.
@smart42:
And to think I always thought Fiat was Italian...
@voodoojoo:
I'd imagine it is just his Vic.
I saw one myself this past weekend in Montreal near Mont Royal
My buddy had one when we were stationed in Naples. Same color and everything. Neat car. Wouldl like to have one. No drags races to win with one of those...
@voodoojoo: He must be out testing R8s again, and needs the comparison.
ahhh - pale blue 2CV - the only car I ever got stopped and fined for speeding in, and the only car I ever owned where the speedo needle would try to start a second lap around the speedo...
I knew that car looked familiar.
@austinminiman
Ya, punctuation deficit disorder, PDD
..."La France" (Full stop.)
"...saw a pumpkin..." was more a quirky car brain link than implying FIAT being a French car thing.
Memo to self, preview before posting, it makes it so much more clear for the readers.
we have two of those things here in carlsbad. One is a "sedan delivery" thing.. bright red, and looks very original. The other is a burgundy & purple one. They both sound like the sit-on lawnmowers.
