BRABUS got us thinking about pairs with their SLR McLaren and Smart package deal. How great would it be to get vehicles custom matched to fill various needs in your life? Even better, what about cars matched to fulfill your various automotive desires? One of our favorite actual pairings has to be the Bluebird RV with matching Mercedes SLK (now that's a bail out vehicle). It's not something automakers or tuners do very often, given the implicit cost. I think our ideal combination would be the Unimog-based Unicat paired with a roof-mounted Rinspeed Bedouin. But that's us.
What's your ideal pair of vehicles? Real or imagined.

Hmm...
Lotus Exige S - Track Day/Weekend hell raiser
BMW M5 - DD/Grocery getter
Audi Q7 V12 TDI with a Suzuki Hayabusa in tow.
An Audi RS6 Avant, and...
uh..
and...
If I had to purchase/insure/maintain them myself, probably a Mercedes turbodiesel wagon ('77-'86) converted to waste veggie oil. And a Miata with a Ford V8 wedged into it.
Defender 110 and 300SL Gullwing
Some big comfy motorhome like above and a comfy enclosed trailer for the rally car. Not too far out of the question since a mortgage can be had on motorohomes that have a bathroom and bedroom. Living in SoCal, storage for a setup like that would be the most expensive thing.
any new Chinese car and a Trek Sport Urban bike. One for normal duty, and one for "safe travel". You pick which is which.
The biggest RV I could find, 2006 Chevy Silverado 4x4 in tow, and bonus Polaris Sportsman 800 in bed of truck.
@13oostedwgn: And another Audi RS6 Avant.
dekotora with an even more ridiculous bosozoku creation inside.
Cadillac STS-V for daily driver duties and, ash78, a Mallett 427 Solstice for killer weekend roadster.
I'd have a last-of-the-breed Town Car and a Harley-Davidson VRSCD Night Rod. Both black, of course.
MazdaSpeed3 as general get-around-town, weekend warrior, grocery getter + Killdozer for when the shit goes down. Now THAT'S a bail out vehicle.
Ferrari + Ferrari combo for me:
Now where did I put my sunglasses, cell phone and boxer shorts?
I'm pretty happy with my current combo--Mazda 3 hatchback and a 1200 Sportster.
Angelina Jolie, and...
What was the other part of the question?
@13oostedwgn: You and I think alike, except I don't have the budget for an RS6, so I drive a Volvo V70R... If I had the money and space, I would go with a pickup truck (preferably old and heavy duty) to carry stuff around and a Tesla Roadster for the commute and weekend hoonage.
I'd be kinda cool to have one of those big toy-hauler RV's with the ramp on the back and a Tomcar tucked inside.
Citroën Sm and a Studebaker Avanti please.
A Bowler Wildcat and a 550 Spyder, flip a coin everyday to decide which one to drive
@ash78: +1 on the V8 miata
'>+ Watch video
Caparo T1 and Aston Martin DBS for me.
F350 & Gt3rs (in tow within the enclosed trailer/toyhauler)
audi q7 v12 tdi and hpa vw r32. yeah...
I used to have a Roadmaster wagon and a Miata. That was a good combo. Ideal, though? Naahh, that would probably be an LS600h and a Solstice/Sky Redline.
you guys are right on target: one car and one bike!
Audi RS6 Avant & Honda Interceptor (VFR) does everything you want, without the flab.
...okay, maybe a little extra flab on the RS6, but less so than the post-apocalypse vehicles that so many soccer moms drive daily.
If I'm paying, a '99 or 2000 Miata and a WRX for wintertime when I might need some AWD.
If I'm not, two 1969 Daytonas. One Dodge, one Ferrari.
@RichardHead:
COTD!

csr-260 and e320cdi wagon
renault kangoo with ramp/bay for bmw r1200s
RS4 Avant & 64 convertible lincoln continental
I live in so cal and surf so rs4 is cherry auto, fits surfboards and gets me out of dodge quickly when the locals get restless
64 lincoln is just dope
i would fancy an S65 AMG and an S4. ohh the fun...
For about 12 years I had two vehicles. A Corvette and a full size 4X4 SUV. The first Vette was a 77 and the first SUV was a 79 K-5 Blazer. The 77 Vette was retired for a 94 coupe. The Blzer was killed by a combination or a brick mailbox and an idiot in a 280ZX (still drove it home, but it was totaled). The Blazer was replaced by a 87 Ford Bronco.
The Vette was always the daily driver, what's the point of a fun car for only the weekend. The SUV was for hauling stuff, towing the lake toys, driving in the woods, etc.
In short fun two seater of choice for everyday (ideal Ferrari 430 or ZR1) and big ol 4X4 truck/SUV beater for hauling/towing stuff (ideal Unimog, PowerWagon, F-250 Diesel, or Defender 110.)
An V8 Vantage and a suicide door Continental.
'54 Chevy 3600 5 window with a Vincent Black Shadow strapped into the bed. I don't want half much, eh?
Q7 V12TDI is for her, and to tow the RS4 Rally car.
'75 Crew-cab Ford F-350 with swapped-in Cummins 6.7 + 6 speed. Classic good looks, mind-blowing torque, 20mpg unloaded. No truck nutz required.
When needed, that will tow my toy hauler wrapped around a WRX wagon rally car (WR Blue + gold wheels + neon green stickers), tuned to ~310hp.
My front teeth will be permanently browned from the perpetual combo of massive grin and dust.
@13oostedwgn: Yep.
Or a Defender 90 and an E30 M3.
mr2 spyder
wrx Wagon
Nissan GTR
Ducati Desmosedici
An armor plated Mini Cooper hanging off of teh back of my KILLDOZER like a Dingy
Big ass RV with an XKE, forest green, tucked up in a safe cozy spot. Yeah, I know, it wouldn't run but I could roll it out and park it beside the RV.
Alfa 8C Competizione Spider, and an Audi Q7 V12 TDI.

Toyota Land Cruiser
BMW M4
Mmm, just to make it interesting, I would like the original Toyota Landcruiser and the Toyota 2000GT as a pair, both white.
1969 Dodge Dart Custom sedan, puke green/white top, 225 slant/auto, and a 1957 Desoto Fireflite wagon, black/gold, 345 ci, dual-quad/Torqueflite converted into a Desotomino.
Lunar module and rover.
@camp6ell: Good one.
Commodore HSV Wagon and BMW M Coupe (z3 based of course)
Where is that kid supposed to sit? On Dad's lap, hood, trunk. They should have bought the more practical Mclaren F1.
because I like to get my groceries fast too:
