Here's some art which brings up a "why haven't I seen that before" thought. License plates, cut into the shapes of each state, arranged into the shape of the United States. Neat. Is it cool enough to fork over prices starting at $1,895, depends on if you've got spare scratch laying around. Of course if you've got a set of fifty plates, a template of the US (a map comes to mind) and a plasma cutter laying around, you can make your own for probably a lot less. Still a clever idea we wouldn't mind having on the wall of our garage. [License Plate Art]

I'll say this for my friends in DC:
No Taxation Without Representation"
I have a print of one of those hanging in my office.
You should see the bi-plane model made out of beer cans.
I like how they use the old-style plates.
@B: The Kentucky plate appears to be a rather new vintage (within the past 20 years.) But KY is one of those states that redesigns plates every 5 years. I know I have to get a new plate this year and mine is one of the very few that has been around for 20 years.
We have seen this before, many times.
It pains us to see some moron destroy perfectly good license plates.
This is what you get when you do a map of the US and Canada (plus US Forces in Germany and the old Canal Zone) when you don't cut up license plates:
Did he only use the annual renewal sticker from Rhode Island?
It is a waste of perfectly good license plates!
Here is a map of the US and Canada (plus US Forces in Germany and the old Canal Zone) with intact plates:
@Triborough: I was in Alberta last summer and saw one of those Northwest Territories bear-shaped plates. We need more plates like that.
I'm such a dork. I love license plates.
@Triborough: Kansas plate needs updating, though. We just got new ones.
i wish california wouldn't have mostly gotten rid of the blue plates. those are cool. the white ones are common.
Am I the only one that can see this is a terrible map. Not only would it be terribly unwieldy (makes folding a paper map seem a joy by comparison), this thing doesn't do me a damn bit of good when trying to navigate from MI to Las Vegas for the AVN's or the like.
@rlj676: 'scuse me Mister! Can you tell me where Texas is at? Oh, never mind, here it is on my map!
@rlj676:
that may be true, but it's better than most maps at navigating you to large '7's and '4's.
using a plasma cutter would be like swatting flies with a wrecking ball. Aviation snips or if you are that high falutin' a laser cutter would be appropriate.
@Xman: Plasma cutters and wrecking balls are more manly than tin snips and fly swatters.
@FreeMan: yeah... in the same way a hummer screams, "I HAVE A HUGE PENIS!"
@Triborough: arguably your version wastes more... this one needs only about half a plate per state, while yours needs a whole one per state.
