Rejoice szybki i wściekły, you now have at least one sanctioned street racing venue. According to our favorite news source ever, Annanova, police in the Polish city of Lodz have defined sections of the city which will be open to no holds barred street racing. This is an attempt by authorities to concentrate street racing in one area to reduce the widespread racing throughout the city. While we like the reasoning and believe in sanctioned and safe racing, we can't help to think since this involves our occasionally ill-advised ancestors, it can only end in multi-vehicle/farm animal pileups.

Good that our Polish friends can channel their inner-Kubica; it is also a well known fact that Krupnik gives you super human driving skills.
This is no doubt a plan to make Lodz the legal street racing capital of the world in an effort to attract tourism Euros.
The only catch is.....you have to beat the wraith!
DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!
The unknown FSO with rear mounted Lancia Stratos engine......I am impressed, But I still think it has the lamest rear wheel arcs of the Group B Rally era....I have not yet looked on the article....or the headline....Now I scroll up
Oh....A picture is more intresting than thousend words.....set as background.....now...Done!
Poland: Never before on my list of places to visit before i die...
Apparently in Lodz there'll by no lightless high-speed police sneak attacks taking out crowds of spectators then. Advantage, Europe.
@bruxell: The women and food are memorable as well.
"the wire" did it. lmfao.
And then they sell tickets and buy a fence for it and voila! (or whatever the Polish equivalent is) they have a nice drag strip!
In Sovietski Poland, car raceski you!
@Dr.Danger: Oh shit. The Wraith...
Anyways it's a good idea, because if it's FREE, and it's open pretty much anytime of night, well, it will be successful. Obviously the cops will also be keeping a close eye on it as well.
I mean, we once blocked off a quiet country road in the middle of nowhere and played with our cars once. Middle of the day, and it's all farmland no access roads. Safe. And the old man down on the farm on the next street saw us and just waved and smiled. If you see someone at a light and they want to challenge you, you can then say "Let's drive for 5 minutes over here where it's legal"
I was going to include some smart-ass remark but I see most everyone, save dr.danger, have already beat me to it. It would be nice to be able to have legal, impromptu midnight racing in the USA. While street racing is illegal in New York, irronically, you can always rely on the cops for a race. They rarely back down but they don't offer much in the way of competition to a serious driver in reasonable car.
This concept is crazy. JonMiles you're correct, for a rush in the US, race ze polizei. If you lose, the police willl drive you!
