KITT made an appearance on the Today Show this morning alongside costar Justin Bruening to promote the new Knight Rider TV Movie. During the show it was revealed that David Hasselhoff will be returning as Michael Knight. Bruening also revealed the loophole that allows the new version to pick up where the old left off, apparently, KITT's true inventor was never identified. Oh joy, what a plot twist.

"What a twist!" - M. Night Shyamalan
Can The Hoff ever emote. Mourning, responsibility, gravitas; all in one woozy downward gaze.
I am looking forward to this more and more.
If they don't throw in a
"Michael... you can be my wingman anytime..."
or
"I am sorry Michael... everybody loved Goose"
then I will be pissed... forgot to add that in.
They must really be running out of ideas in Hollywood, but I suspect this is a Detroit financed project. While we're at it, how about resurrecting "Automan" too?
Is that a mullet???
wait wait wait wait...
"Our writer, Dave blahblah, was amazing and found the ONE loophole in the original series, which is that they never said who actually invented KITT."
Really? That's the only one?
@ÇitiŽen BrÅff: Maybe he can break into a verse of "Skeet Surfin"
A script with a loophole. Who would have thought that? Not me.
*At 80mph*
"KITT has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
@TheCartorialist: And Street Hawk!
Scene from the show:
Mike- "Play artist, the cure"
KITT- "Piss off"
A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not act well.
Michael Knight, A young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the boring,
the inane, the stupid, in a world of writers who operate by recylcing old material.
DUH DAH DAH DAAH
DAH DUH DUH DAAH
DUH DAH DAH DAH DAAH DAAAAAH
@Dr.Danger: COTD ... Easy COTD...
Dr. Danger types... Hilarity ensues....
There should be live "Knight Rider Watch" post while the show is on so we can all make fun of the show live and start a drinking game for everytime we see a Focus/Sync ad during the commercial breaks.
I really, really want to hate this abortion of a tv movie...
However.. I will admit to getting something of a boner the other day when I pulled out of my garage in downtown LA to see half the street closed for a shoot, and some sinister looking Ford with red nostrils parked right across the street...
"a live..."
Michael, Do you mind if I name my first child after you? Dipshit Knight has a nice ring to it.
ok, so they use a almost stock mustang? We want our Trans Am Back Damnit!
@magicgreen: Yes, give me this KITT.
*Turbo Boost button included
@johnnyichiban: well played sir! u beat me to it.
Oh Please let this turkey croak in one or two shows!! Then we do not have to be beaten over thee head with this useless shit everyday!
How much does GawkerMedia get for being the KnightRider PR/Booster Department?
@CEman: The same amount they get from Chevy's marketing guys for the ZR1
@Bento:
No doubt my friend. No doubt...
So, what will tomorrow's KR post be about guys? You have to do at least one a day to meet the contract right?
Thank god they ditched the monstrous wing wing that was featured in the first couple of press shots.
@weirdnjfan1: I thought that was the car's defense mode and is not used constantly.
@CEman: One day countdown. Then the day after posts. Then the speculative posts about sequels or a series.
By the way I sat in a Mustang today at the auto show. There's nothing significant about this I just thought it would would be fun to mention.
It will be gone in two seasons. The first will be the novelty phase, and ratings, good or bad will be dismissed. The second year, will be the trial by fire when the novelty wears off, and all the people who saw the original and found it's just some lame Mustang.
Branding and loyalty only goes so far, and Ford has pushed that limit by instead of putting some GT's in to be Kitt, they put in a production Mustang in hopes of selling them.
This kind of thing doesn't work twice. Knight Rider was popular because it was new, the car looked futuristic and like it could kick ass. Now we have a show with a retro Mustang instead of the Ford GT which does look like a car of the future.
Two years, maybe three if Ford pressures the studio to get their investment back. They could have just freaking thought this out, instead of how much money Ford was going to give them. The cash they make from a show that lasts 10 years dwarfs anything they could get now. This whole thing is based on greed and short sighted business models. They deserver to tank.
@Dr.Danger: I love the Trans Am mockup. Yes please give us our Trans Am back. Or at least the 09 Camaro.
I totally agree short term greed is the back bone of the whole thing. Ford is in a panic aleady from there stock falling to junk statis. I can't stand the globalization of the auto industry. It is ,I believe, this that has the corner stones of the industry crumbling. And the powers that be cashing in on Toyota, Honda and others. I for one don't want to buy a Japenese car to support an American worker. You know Toyota assembles camrys in the country their being sold in. What paradigm shifted so that Rick Waggoner CEO of GM can't do the same. Each manufacturer needs to stay in their own playground. Well, I'm going to get off my soap box now.
