Auto shows, including the Chicago Auto Show, are all about concepts that may never see the light of day. And as important as some are in setting the direction for a company's design language or technology, some are just completely ridiculous. In honor of the ridiculous, we're curious to hear what concept car you'd like to see get built. From any generation. Turbine-powered Olds? Why the hell not? Isuzu Amphicar. That's the ticket. Shock us with what you remember.
What is the concept car you'd like to see built?

I'd most like to see Ford's Concept U come to light. It was an impressive piece of work.
The superultradupercosmic turbocharged hydrogen-burning engine looked a little wishful, but the rest of it looked fully believable.
I think I speak for almost everyone in saying the VW Microbus was one of the best concepts that never made it. So while the new Routan may be just fine, it will always leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Chrysler ME412! MEOW!
Honorable mention: Jeep Gladiator!
My kidney for the Furai
(does that one count?)
Caterham X330
Lots of good ones popping up here lately, the Suzuki Xhead, Microbus, but I've gotta say Canyonero.
12 yards long, 2 lanes wide,
65 tons of American Pride!
Canyonero! Canyonero!
I like the Toyota HI-CT
Mazda's Kabura concept. Small, rwd, 4 cylinder. Simple, cool.
2nd place: Jeep Hurricane, but only if I can mount M240's on it.
I'd like to see the Chrysler Imperial, primarily because I'd love to be able to pick one up 5 years down the road for a tad over $10,000.
Suzuki X-Head
Nissan Mid4. Mid engine, twin-turbo V6, AWD, AWS (all the late 80's, early 90's goodies), most of which found their way in to the Z32. Would have been Nissan's NSX.
Or, ooo, the Cadillac 16. Yeah.
Ford Bronco
How about a new Camaro or maybe a Challenger. Those would be cool. Yes I am aware these cars are "in the pipeline." Seems the collective committees of beancounters are hard at work preventing Jalponiks & car enthusiasts from getting a Gear Head Fix.
Ford Nucleon [www.damninteresting.com]
Screw diesel, hybrids, electrics, gas, and pedal power.
Give me a NUKE!
This:
Lancia Stratos Zero or the Lamborghini Bravo - I like wedges.
BMW Concept CS...should be 8 series..and make an M8
Mazda Furai
Lamborghini Miura
Lexus LF-A
Ford GR-1
Or this:
Pontiac Salsa!!!!
Seriously though, How about just about every Chrylser concept from the early-late '90s. Pronto Spyder, Atlantic, M80...
Something small and light. The Hornet up top is a good candidate. I think Dodge had a roadster version of the smart a little while back (the Razor?).
Or, the Demon, but only if it is front-wheel drive and based on crap.
@Dr.Danger: Just a kidney? I think you can do a little better.
Cadillac Cien
Dodge Sidewinder
Dodge Charger (1999)
Daihatsu Mudmaster-C
Oldsmobile Aerotech
Jeep Hurricane
Holden Hurricane
Lada Samara S-Proto
The second Panamera photoshop. You know, the decent looking one.
Bentley Hunaudieres
Maserati Birdcage 75th
The Jeep Trailhawk concept from last year.
It's built on the Wrangler Unlimited platform, so it has solid axles like the old ZJ and WJ Grand Cherokees.
Oh, and of course the Cadillac Sixteen. That pretty much goes without saying.
I would like to see something interesting roll out of any American car company without being a complete piece of rubbish. Just a pipe dream, however, as you know as well as I that there's a mandated limit for how interesting an American car can be.
I would like to see something interesting roll out of any American car company without being a complete piece of rubbish. But, you know as well as I do that there's a mandated limit on how interesting or innovative an American car can be.

Buick Blackhawk
@UDMAN: I like your style.
I still drool over the Audi Avus.
Sorry, delete one of the above. My bad.
Chevy Nomad on the kappa platform, preferably with the 2 liter turbo
[www.autocult.com.au]
Holden Efijy
VW GX3
Holden Efijy
I'd have to go with the Volkswagen W12 Coupe. I'd have killed to see this thing compete at Le Mans....
@UDMAN: Yup.
@no_slushbox: What the... Where the... Who the.... Huh???? Where have I been that I've never seen that before?
Maybach Excelero
Cadillac Sixteen
The old Ford Nucleon would be sweeeet.

More realistically, I'd like to see that Chinese Buick Riviera concept done, with a turbo V6 and rear wheel drive (new Grand National, anyone?).
I would like to see the 1999 Pontiac GTO concept be built, not as "intense" as the concept was, but the same retro styling, such as the camaro, the GTO needs it, after the bad sales, too bad it isnt coming out anytime soon [IMG][i40.photobucket.com]]
Holden Efijy
Mazda Furai
Jeep Hurricane
I'd sell my firstborn for any one of those cars.
@Skydiver: I knew I missed something awesome.
Or several somethings: VW Golf W12 650
Cien though. Best GM ever.
Maserati Birdcage Concept.
To borrow another page from Polar:
Furai Furai Furai Furai Furai Furai
Furai Furai etc etc ad nauseam
Pontiac Stinger. Way before its time when GM was visionary. Along those lines the Stingray III and Iroc California Concept from Chevy. From Ford I would say the Mach III concept would have been a great Corvette competitor. And agreeing with VONPINTO on the 90's Chrysler concepts.
Ford GT90
Mazda Furai
Ford Indigo
TVR Cerbera Speed 12 - Well it was sort of a concept.
Ah there's too many to think about, the GT90 definitely though, if only Ford had put that into production.

5. Peugeot 908 RC concept:[car-reviews.automobile.com]
It would have been great if GM had produced the 1973 XP-882 four-rotor corvette concept. Imagine the fiberglass and rotary chaos that could have ensued!
@beercheck: It came out back in '04 [www.edmunds.com]
I'd like to see the Hornet pictured above produced (but only if chrysler could pull their heads out of their ass long enough to make a decent interior that doesn't look like it was designed with Walmart shoppers in mind). The Suzuki X-Head would be a cool one to see produced as well.
The Dodge Tomahawk and the Holden Sandman come to mind. And if Cadillac doesn't build the Sixteen and the Cien, and Lincoln continues to pass over the Continental, they both need to be whacked upside their collective heads.
Instant Death Machine a.k.a. Tomahawk...
Ford MA.
Someone *please* build me a 4-wheel motorcycle. I have been waiting my whole life for one.
Ho Chi Mama!
The Mazda Furai Baby!
@beercheck: Yes
@no_slushbox: Yes. Fine with it on alpha if necessary.
Prodrive P2 also a great choice.
Suzuki LC
Pretty much every small, four cylinder, four seat, RWD coupe/shooting brake that has not been produced which is all of them. No the BMW 1 series doesn't count because it is a fat 6 cyl.
@BlackIce_GTS: That's only because there's so much awesome out there.
the Prodrive P1
[www.diseno-art.com]
@no_slushbox: A thousand times, YES.
sorry, meant the prodrive P2
