Reader David W. captured some very nice shots of the recently unveiled 2009 BMW X6 in what we can only assume is its native environment - a grocery store parking lot. Is it bad we're already making fun of BMW's latest and greatest market blurring offering? Sure it's destined for innumerable trips to the salon and the Coach boutique at the hands of trophy wives everywhere, but shouldn't we give it at least a moment to shine? The tall car/sleek suvvie is still wearing its manufacturer plates, so don't get your designer hand bags out and run to get your own copy just yet.

Now I know what the front end reminds me of...

This would be a great car if they photoshopped it 7/8ths scale vertically, and decreased ride height about 3 inches. I mean seriously, who is gonna off-road this thing? This is mom's car.
Dear Chris Bangle,
Thanks for proving us right.
Kind Regards,
The Eagle Team, American Motors.
The cheapo plastic side and bumper cladding must make this a base 2.8 or 3.5-liter model, and in my opinion it makes it look better than the side-skirted V8 example on the stand in Detroit. Still hideous overall though, and with that ridiculous new BMW automatic shifter-by-wire that can be aptly described only as 'flaccid'.
If it was just ugly, its pointlessness might be overshadowed by its disgusting ass. But it's just a hulking question mark that will plummet in popularity as soon as the next new hotness is stocked in Thousand Oaks.
This and the Clubman from the same company. I would have expected it from Chrysler in the late 90s. But BMW also makes the 135i. Too many Übermensch in the kitchen.
This has already been done:
Remember the American Eagle?
It's natural habitat?
...You mean the driveway of a jackass with too much money?
Eagle Coupe = sexy.
I have at least some affection for almost every BMW product. There is not one that I can't find something redeeming about and that I honestly wouldn't drive.... Until now...
This car is going to make the R class look like a sales smash
It looks good for a current BMW model. But to quote Barack Obama, that "bar is so low that it's buried in the sand."
10 twinkies + BMW + intension of creating versatility - cargo capacity + Junior bacon cheeseburger + shockwave energy drink = X6.
the rear shots looks like it has so much filler (as in, rear valance, on top of rear valance, on top of rear valance.)
I dunno, no matter what you do to this thing it will never "wow" me. sort of like the Cayenne GTS which also carries on tons of plastic crap in an effort to create a sexy beautiful design.
Wow! That's great! Regular unleaded is only $2.77 a gallon? (picture #6).
@goatrope: I paid $2.81 yesterday...
@goatrope: Something tells me that's more like the X6's natural habitat under that sign.
Can we please turn off the ability for people to embed images in their comments? I find it rather annoying.
I go back and forth with the X6. I still prefer the Infiniti FX and the upcoming EX. Somehow those seem both a little more sporty and more versatile.
@weatherman: Closing your eyes is probably more cost effective.
As some dude says on here, "I keed, I keed!"
Polar's right, this car has jowls in front. And please, can't they lower its ass? It looks like Daffy Duck when his ass gets kicked up to his shoulders. (I don't have the image or I'd embed it. I keed too)
@Hamslamm: Funny how they use "The beauty of 4Wheel Drive", as Subaru repurposed that as "The Beauty of All wheel drive" 10 years later.
As much as I hate this thing, it'll probably sell pretty well.
Like some kind of gradual evolutionary shift based on food supply, we've seen the explosion of full-size truck SUVs (at $1.20/gal) change to CUVs (at 2.50/gal) to even more car-like CUVs (at > $3/gal).
Hopefully this ends in actual station wagons (but not at $5/gal).
@POLAR: it's all fun and games until someone gets goatse'd...
@weatherman: Why o why did you have to open that can of worms?
Wow, it's a giant hatchback suffering from severe perpetual front end brake dive.
@weatherman: I don't even know how to do it, but I'd like to.
Don't you always feel good after a good embeding, actually that was my first time...I was jealous of polar
I tried my best... but I suck at photoshop...

Pre-lifted for your donking convenience.
@weatherman: The beauty of the internet.
@Mad_Science: Do a search for "2 girls 1 cup."
Goatse was so 2003.
i dont know why people are comparing this to an Eagle...
ITS NOT A STATION WAGON
its a Sport Activity Coupe
Muppet Movie anyone?
"A bear in its natural habitat...a Studebaker."
