As we originally thought, the new version of the Sports Coupe isn't actually based on the new C-Class architecture but instead gets the visual enhancements to make it look like the rest of the line. In fact, they've enhanced or newly developed 1,100 components (which could mean suspension or could mean shift knob gasket). Engines include two turbodiesels, two four-cylinder mills and two six-cylinder engines mated either to a six-speed manual, five speed auto or the 7GTRONIC. Though not the most expensive model in Mercedes' line, it's an important one as 40% of Sports Coupe buyers moved up to a larger Mercedes such as the E-Class, CLK or SLK.
